Another top review taken down for no reason

I posted a review for Asteroid City (title/tt14230388) on 7/12/2023. The review follows all the guidelines. It had great engagement and was top 5 on the user review page based on "Featured." Last I checked, the helpfulness votes were 178 out of 263.

Why was it taken down? It's not the first time one of my reviews was removed, and when I asked why, IMDb said it should not have been removed.

This is infuriating, especially considering I may have not noticed it. And now I wonder how many of my other reviews has IMDb taken down without notification. I use IMDb as a safe storage for all my reviews and ratings. If they are deleting my reviews without telling me, even though they follow all the guidelines, it's hard to have any confidence in this website.

I have already been debating a full move to Letterboxd. If this is not addressed, I may be forced to.

Here is my review for reference (Contribution #230713-051331-978804)

No offense to anyone who likes Asteroid City, but I can't for the life of me imagine how anyone can get even an ounce of entertainment from it. It is the definition of pretentious and one of the best examples of style over substance I have ever seen.

I quit after 38 minutes. I almost never stop a movie, even terrible ones that I rate one star. But I determined that there was a 0% chance of gaining any enjoyment from watching the rest. I'm so relieved I didn't see this at the theater.

I've watched thousands of movies of all types. My range of taste is vast. I love sci-fi, horror, drama, action, comedy, mystery, thriller, etc. I can enjoy a mindless blockbuster but my favorites are usually really smart movies that make me think (like most Christopher Nolan movies). But I'll never understand the appeal of this type of "artistic" nonsense. (1 viewing, 7/12/2023)

Hello FeastMode,

The review does not meet our User Reviews guidelines, the review is not based on the movie content.

Hi Fran, thanks for the response.

I gave my opinion of the movie. That's what a review is. And based on my 178 upvotes, people clearly found it helpful. But because of an IMDb employee's completely subjective judgement that it's not based on the content, it gets taken down? I did talk about the content. The content is terrible.

I've been reviewing movies for years and have over 2,200 reviews. This review is more than sufficient, which IMDb seemed to agree with when they approved the review originally. Would it really make the review better if I added a summary of the premise and listed out the actors? No, they can find that on the IMDb page. There's no reason for me to repeat it.

IMDb is alienating its most loyal users by doing this. It will continue to drive users towards Letterboxd.

Please restore my review.

@FeastMode Hi!

As mentioned by my colleague the review does not focus on the content of the title, please rewrite the review focusing on the content on why you did not like it, it is ok if it is a negative review of course, but as is, it does not mention why you did not like it.

Thanks for understanding!
