Alternate name question

The question I have in this instance happens to show up in the Casting section, but could just as well be in any of the other sections. One instance has these credits:

IMDb credit: Beth Bowling | original casting: New York | (as Bowling/Miscia)

but

Actual on-screen credit: original casting: New York - Bowling/Miscia Casting

Beth Bowling's name does not appear on-screen anywhere.

Check out:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1365284/reference/

Obviously Beth Bowling is a principal in the business - does this mean that if the credit is a company containing an owner's name, like Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer both Samuel Goldwyn and Louis B. Mayer should be given, as individuals, credit in the form of Samuel Goldwyn | theatrical distribution | (as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) ? Absurd, I know, but isn't it the same thing? Also, Beth Bowling now shows 'Bowling/Miscia' as an alternate name on her page. She has many credits like this and there are three other names with the same casting situation in this particular title. Just curious.

Hi @nickbianco -

We will confirm with our policy team if the credit is eligible. Will come back to you as soon as we get an answer.

Cheers!

This should probably be a company credit instead of an individual one. I've seen this a few times, especially in the casting director listings. There is no assurance that just because casting was down by Bowling/Miscia Casting that Beth Bowling was involved.

Hi @nickbianco -

To confirm, the existing name credits where the company is listed as an AKA is incorrect, in cases where an individual worked for a company on a title but only the company was credited, they are eligible to have an uncredited listing in the format:

Beth Bowling ... New York casting: Bowling/Miscia Casting ... (uncredited)

As the company "Bowling/Miscia Casting" was credited on-screen, then there should also be a company credit listed for this company.

I have now corrected the credits on this episode to the proper formatting and the changes should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!

Thanks for the follow-up, Michelle. The correction seems sensible to me.

@Michelle

Without anyone confirmation that she actually worked on casting, should that uncredited credit be acceptable?

Hi @adrian -

As the individual is an executive of the credited company and has been credited similarly on many top shows, it is plausible that the individual worked on the title which is why I'm inclined to keep the credit unless it has been contested.

If you have reasons to believe that it is incorrect, you are welcome to request a deletion and our staff will review the listing further.

The casting help shows the city following the colon. When credits have both a company and a city, I mostly see job: Abc Company, New York. So would it be more consistent that instead of

Beth Bowling ... New York casting: Bowling/Miscia Casting ... (uncredited)

we would have:

Beth Bowling ... casting: Bowling/Miscia Casting, New York ... (uncredited)

Just wondering.
