"Also as" attribute not displaying

The attribute "also as", which is used when the same person is credited for the same position in the same film multiple times under different names (typically the opening and closing credits) is not actually displaying when you view IMDb.  It just shows "as", which implies that they were only credited under a single version of their name, when "also as" is specifically used to denote that they were credited multiple times under different variations of their name.

Examples:

Pickaxe

When you go in to edit the cast credits, you can see that "Ashley-Marie Zgabay" has the attribute "also as"

This is because in the opening credits her name is listed without a dash
But in the closing credits she is listed with the dash
However, when you look at the IMDb page for the film and her individual profile it just says "as", not "also as" even though the "also as" credit is what is actually listed inside the IMDb database.  This implies that she was only credited under the variation "Ashley Marie Zgabay," which is not true.

Nudist Colony of the Dead

When you go in to edit the producer credits, you can see that one of the credits for "Braddon Mendelson" has the attribute "also as"

This is because in the opening credits he is credited as "Brad Mendelson"
And in the closing credits, he is credited for the same job, "associate producer," as "Braddon L. Mendelson"
He is not credited at all under his main profile name "Braddon Mendelson."

However when you look at the film page on IMDb, both credits are just listed "as"

"Also as" is a valid attribute per the IMDb Submission Guide Attributes section: "The (also as...) attribute may be applied in cases where an individual is credited under more than one name in the credits list."
Yet, IMDb is not actually displaying the attribute when you browse IMDb, which makes no sense to have an attribute that is part of the submission guide and part of the database, but then is displayed as the wrong attribute.

Hi vincent_p -

Thanks for reporting this display, I have filed a ticket for our technical team to take a look and confirm if the display is due to a bug or by display logic.  As soon as I have a response I will post the details here.

Cheers!

Hi All -

Just following up here with an update that our tech team are unable to prioritize a fix for this specific issue.

In the meantime, there is a work around by providing additional context for opening/closing credits for the 'as' attribute, for example in this case, updating the credit attributes to: "(as Ashley Marie Zgabay: opening credits) (also as Ashley-Marie Zgabay: closing credits)" should result in both names appearing on the page.

Cheers!

@Michelle Does this mean this issue is on a (priority) list but it is very deep down on the list or does this mean it is not on a(ny) list and nothing will be done about it?

And if this display issue where data of this database is incorrectly displayed to the customers of this database won't be fixed because IMDb is "unable to prioritize a fix for this specific issue", am I right in assuming that IMDb is currently understaffed? And for the record, being understaffed is nothing to be ashamed of IMO. I think most if not all large companies are, I just think it's good and mature to be open about these kind of issues. I think it makes it easier for people to understand why some things won't be fixed.

Hi Marco -

Apologies for the delayed response.

I can confirm that while this is a known issue, this is not a high priority on our roadmap and there is not a scheduled plan to fix.   In the meantime, if you continue experiencing this issue on the site, please continue to report them on this thread for visibility, and i can pass that information along to our tech team.

Since Michelle asked for updates in this thread:

"also as" attributes are still not displayed, nor can they be submitted in the cast section.

It is also impossible to submit the attribute combination that Michelle suggested above: "(as Ashley Marie Zgabay: opening credits) (also as Ashley-Marie Zgabay: closing credits)"

There is even a warning which objects to that formatting:

"as" attributes should not contain extraneous information
Your attribute included the word credits which suggests there is extra information. It is not necessary to include specific details of where an alternate name was used.
