Adding awards to films in industry sections

The question is:

Is it permissible to add to the awards participants and winners of industry sections of film festivals and pitching, “work in progress” sections, grants, etc., which were not shown to the audience, but only projects or working versions?

As an example, there are industry days as part of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Is it considered relevant and correct to add these awards to the Sarajevo Film Festival awards page in IMDB? Or Final Cut in Venezia?

Hi @den_budanov -

In order to understand your question better, are these 'CineLink Industry Days Awards' an event within the same event of Sarajevo Film Festival?

Cheers!

These are industry grant-honors. That is, a traditional market and industrial event (as at all festivals). The films have not yet been shot or are in the process of filming or post-production. That is, there are no films yet, an industrial jury evaluates the idea or working materials.

If you look at the credits of many festival films, at the end there is a list of which industry sections the films were in and received support from foundations (the same Sundance or the Berlinale Foundation) - support is given on a competitive basis and some consider this a film award (I don’t think so, that’s why asked this question).

Recently, I have come across the fact that some personalities add awards for supporting funds at project pitchings as winning and contribute this as festival prizes.

@den_budanov Hi!

In this case, the awards can be added however, as they are for a concept or work in progress for films that are not finalized, we will treat them similar to how unproduced screenplays, for example, need to be submitted as per in our Awards guide.
Submit the award(s) with the list of the respective nominee names who received the grant/honor and on the supplementary field include an explanation (eg. For title xyz, For un-produced title xyz, etc).

Cheers!

@Bethanny

I just mentioned that I am not in favor of adding such awards to the festival section. And in my opinion, such information is more suitable for the "trivia" section. Just as one of the cases - half of the awards for this person are pitches for films that have not yet been made.* And since I am in contact with some filmmakers and the question has arisen - is it possible or not to add industrial pitching awards as festival participation to the awards section.

*

In the above example, we see that the film “Divia”, which is currently only at the pre-production stage, has already won awards at the Leipzig DOK Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival, and the film that has also not yet been shot “Son of the Streets” is a winner of Amman International Film Festival and International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

That's exactly what my question was. Because the situation turns out to be in such a case that the film may be filmed (or may even remain unfinished) in a few years, and it will receive awards before the official release year (yes, sometimes there are such exceptions, but it seems to me that in the described case this is wrong case).

@den_budanov Hi!

Thanks for your feedback. As mentioned this information should be added to awards, not trivia.

Cheers!
