Adding an award from a festival

Dear support team,

My question is how to add an award to my own IMDB page. For example, here the award is already on the festival page, but I can't edit this page anywhere.

https://www.imdb.com/user/ur163849910/?ref_=nv_usr_prof_2

Also, I tried to add my award once before at another festival, but I couldn't find the category I won the award in and I also couldn't add a category.
I can't find the saved attempt to add the award either.

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards

Kristina

Kristina: https://www.imdb.com/user/ur163849910/ is actually not a festival page as IMDb would normally think of it. Note that this page is classified as a user page (the path "user" is in the URL). That page is comparable to the pages that all registered IMDb users have such as https://www.imdb.com/user/ur1879600/ (my own user page). I don't know why the festival set up a page this way; it would have been easy to do, but it isn't suitable for allowing filmmakers such as you to be recognized on IMDb.

By contrast, a festival page with award listings would normally look something like https://www.imdb.com/event/ev0000147/2023/1 (Cannes Film Festival) or https://www.imdb.com/event/ev0000631/2023/1 (Sundance Film Festival). Notice that these pages have the path "event" in their URLs because they are classified as award events.

I don't see the Indian Independent Film Festival on the IMDb's list of all award events which can be found at https://www.imdb.com/event/all. If it is not a listed award event yet, it would have to be submitted to IMDb before any of the recipient films and filmmakers can have the award listed on their own pages. See https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/other-submission-guides/events/G9DXDPWT2TWSXP8U# for information about that.

As to the other festival where you won an award, please indicate what festival it is, what category you won in, and provide a link to the festival's web site as proof that you won the award. With that information, the contributors here will be better able to advise you.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Dear Gromit82,

Thank you very much for your fast, detailed and professional answer. This community is really amazing. I will write to the festival and ask.

Best Wishes

@gromit82 Sorry for reviving a semi-old topic: should it be the festival themselves who writes into IMDb to request inclusion?

@danielr_02 It doesn't have to be. If you as a movie fan can provide the information to get the festival listed in the database, please feel free to submit it by going to https://help.imdb.com/contact?deepLink=new_event&disableLoginPopup=true and clicking "E-mail", then completing the e-mail form with the relevant information.

Dear Gromit,

I am indeed a filmmaker. I have been trying to prove a Special Mention we all won in 2008 at the Festival de Cannes in a Short Film Corner competition (Cannes à la Flip). However, I need the direct proof on the Cannes website for that, I had only found other websites yet. I have also written to the Festival de Cannes, but they have not replied. The award is right, it's not a lie.

If you have any idea that I will be accepted from IMDB, I would be very grateful.

These are the only links I have:

I also filmed some catalogues from The Short Film Corner/Cannes when I was in with other short films and I also was going live in Cannes on my instagram channel, I can also share the Vimeo channel from the director:
Cannes live, my invitation to the Cannes opening party and the catalogues:

P.S. I also did the camera, interviews and dramaturgical advice at the documentary CAN AND ME where Wim Wenders was involved. That is accepted. Or my own film THE SOUND OF COLOGNE, where Stockhausen, the famous band CAN and so on is involved. But Cannes isn't accepted.

@KS1983 I am just an IMDb user, so I don't have any authority over whether your film's award gets listed.

Which film won the award you are trying to get listed, and which award did it win?

Thank you, but I think you can't do anything. The short films title is "Last results" and they told me my name and the short film had to be on the website. It was in the Short Film Corner, it was the Competition Cannes à la Clip and the Short Film Corner belongs to the Festival de Cannes. But I think, you can't do anything. But thank you.

Hi @KS1983 -

In order for our editors to approve the award and verify you as a named recipient we will need verified information from the source, which is likely why you were instructed to provide information directly from the festival website.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Dear Michelle,

I have currently won many awards in smaller festivals and wanted to list my awards. However, only some prizes are accepted, others are not. However, my name and film title are on the festival website. What am I doing wrong, why is it not listed? Some are festivals that have a monthly live event and also show my films live then and have asked for more and older projects. That's how several awards come about at one festival. Could it be that this leads to confusion? What can I do? An example: https://londonmovieawards.com/september-2023
It has my exact name, the award and the title of my music video "Breathe on" on the website. Why wasn't it listed?

Thank you so much for your help.

All the best

Kristina

@KS1983 Hi-

Do you have the 18-digit submission reference numbers for awards that you have submitted and are not listed? You can post them below.

I checked that URL you submitted but the link is broken.

I can see that you have awards listed on your page, however, if there are missing we can check for you with the reference numbers and explain further.

Cheers!
