Add Images

I regularly contribute data to IMDb. I don’t use IMDbPro. I understand I can add images to title pages but not to name pages.

Many name pages are lacking primary images. Often these are supporting actors. Of course, for fans images help to bring names and faces together, especially if they are not stars.

My idea: in the ‚Add image‘ pop-up menu an additional option would enable me to click on a button ‚Please consider this also as a primary image for this actor’s name page.‘

I add an image to the title page, and the staff will add it to the name page, as well, if suitable.

I got this idea because this is what happened to me recently after I tagged names to images of the series, ‚Das unsichtbare Revier‘: The tags were accepted, and the staff selected some images and added them as primary images to actor pages. So some staff members react to missing images on name pages. But it doesn’t work as a rule.

Hi, Cheyenne. A feature similar to what you've proposed already exists for image partners to IMDb. The catch, however, is that several years ago, the IMDb company stopped recruiting new image partners. The idea of extending such a privilege to more IMDb contributors has pros and cons. One of the problems faced pertains to copyrights and licensing. Also, there is the matter of reasonable expectations of privacy, especially of people who don't consider themselves to be celebrities or public figures. IMDb's preferred solution involves active IMDbPro subscriptions and verification of identity/rights. Certainly this is incentivized by the fact that a person can prevent an "automatic" image from being accidentally applied (as you've observed in the situation you mentioned) to his or her profile by claiming the profile page. So, in a way, the system as it already be represents a balance.
