A production misspelled my name in credits and now it's on someone else's IMDB page. How can I fix it?

My IMDB page is under Joseph, but the production credited me as Joe.

How do I get this fixed so the credit appears on my page? I've tried using the "correct/delete" function but once I proceed it does not list any names to correct. I can only add new credits and when I did it was rejected (probably because its not a new credit, but a correction).

Joseph: Please post the links here to your page and the page for the production you worked on. There are at least four "Joseph Volpe"s and at least five "Joe Volpe"s listed in IMDb, so having the specifics will make it easier to advise you.

Joseph: Thanks for providing the links. Here is how to fix the problem.

Go to the page for the specific episode you worked on at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt17887180/ . At the bottom of the page, click "Edit page".

On the next screen, on the Editorial Department line, select "Correct/Delete". Scroll down and click "Continue".

On the next screen, to the left of the entry for Volpe, Joe (II), select "Correct". Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, you will see that the entry is editable. Change the name Volpe, Joe (II) to Volpe, Joseph (II) which is your official IMDb name. In the Attribute column, which is currently blank, enter (as Joe Volpe) to indicate that you were credited on screen as Joe instead of Joseph.

Check the box marked "Provide an explanation to assist in processing this submission". You will then be able to enter an explanation. Enter something like "I am Joseph Volpe (II), and I was one of the additional editors on this episode. I was credited on screen as Joe Volpe, but Joe Volpe (II) is a different person and he did not work on this episode."

In addition, if you have any evidence to upload that you were an additional editor on the episode, there will be a link in the paragraph that says, "To help us verify your data, you can choose to upload evidence directly on IMDb. While doing so, you will need to re-login for your own security and paste the reference of the uploaded file in the explanation box below." You may not necessarily need to upload evidence, but the opportunity is there if you have evidence to upload. To upload the evidence, click on "upload evidence", log in again, and follow the instructions, which will say:

  1. To support submission of credits

    • If the name is listed in end credits, please share a screen capture of the credits.

    • If the name is not listed in end credits or the title is unreleased, please share call sheetspay stubsreceipts or contracts.

In your case, you would want to submit a call sheet, pay stub, receipt, or contract, since your issue is with proving that you personally worked on the episode rather than that someone with the name "Joe Volpe" was credited on the episode.

Once you have uploaded the file, go back to the tab for updating the episode information, and provide the information about and reference for what you uploaded in the Explanation box. Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, your data should appear with a green background, and you should be able to click "Submit these updates".

Allow a few days for the correction to be processed. Good luck!

@gromit82 Thank you so much, this was incredibly helpful. I have followed through on all of your instructions and I'll report back once I hear a response.

@gromit82 I followed through on all of the steps you suggested and still got rejected, reason being "Unable to verify".

I sent them this message: I am Joseph Volpe (II), and I was one of the additional editors on this episode. I was credited on screen as Joe Volpe, but Joe Volpe (II) is a different person and he did not work on this episode. Here is proof from my deal memo (and I provided the link that was generated through their upload system, which clearly stated my full name).

Is there anyway you know of it email someone directly about this? I can re-submit but I'm not sure what I could do differently this time.
