A number transposition, or we'll have to completely rewrite film history.
https://www.imdb.com/de/title/tt35855698/reference/
So, if this film really was released in 1891, the entire history of film needs to be rewritten. And medical history too, for that matter. But no, it's just a simple typo, apparently made by the person who submitted it.
The annoying thing is that there's absolutely no way to notify IMDb about this other than through this channel. The update form doesn't allow for it; it's simply not provided for. Yet, as these cases clearly demonstrate, it's absolutely necessary.
I explicitly pointed out the error when updating the release dates. This was ignored, and once again I'm coming to the conclusion that even though it's mandatory in some places to provide justification or even evidence, nobody actually reads these comments. So what's the point?
As the link to the external page clearly shows, the correct date of first release is 1981. Not 1891. And film history, like medical history, remains unchanged. But simply inserting a film at a point in history where it is clearly impossible should be avoided at all costs.

Hi MarcusCyron-
Thank you for reporting! Further reviewing, your release date addition was approved but the year correction was still pending the change.
This was already approved and the changes will be live shortly.
Cheers!
