A mockumentary and its actors. Confessions of an Action Star (2005)

Hello,

This has bugged me for years now.

There is a mockumentary called Confessions of an Action Star from 2005. It was written by and stars David Leitch. Some professional actors like Hugo Weaving, Angelina Jolie, Carrie-Anne Moss, Debbie Allen, Sean Young, Ernie Hudson, Eric Roberts, Kelly Hu, Jason George, and Joel David Moore star in this spoof movie as "themselves." This means that in this fictional mockumentary which poses like a documentary, they give interviews mocking the real world counterpart of themselves and the Hollywood action world in the 1980s. But since they are credited as "Self" the movie does not appear under the "Actor" section of the respective actors' IMDb pages; it appears in the "Self" section. This is a problem because they are not appearing as themselves as they would appear on a talk show or a real documentary, for instance. Some or most of these actors starred in this movie as a favor to the stunt people they had worked with on other projects. For example, the writer and lead performer in this movie, David Leitch, worked as a stunt person in major Hollywood movies between late 90s and late 90s before moving on to becoming a stunt coordinator and eventually a director. The director of this movie, Brad Martin, has worked as a stunt person since early 1990s.

How do we correct this problem so that the movie Confessions of an Action Star appears under the "Actor" section of the actors' IMDb page and not under the "Self" section which lists the projects the actors appear as their genuine selves? The correct credits for each actor should be 'Self', as in highlighting the idea that the actors spoof themselves as well, and not Self, as the latter directs the IMDb users to the "Self" section of their IMDb pages.

I hope I could make it clear enough. I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

@kdogs This is covered in the submission guide at https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/cast-acting-credits-guidelines/GH3JZC74FVYKKFMD specifically in the section: “Non-fiction & self credits explained” where it states:

Where someone is billed in the credits as themselves in a fictional piece and are playing a scripted, fictional version of themselves, we use the performer's name as the character name to avoid moving the credit to the 'Self' category.

so in this case, for example, Hugo Weaving should be given the character name: Hugo Weaving

Hope this helps.

Dear @Col_Needham
Thank you very much for your response. I submitted an update according to what you mentioned in your comment and it was accepted. We can now see the movie on the actors' IMDb pages under the Actor section. Cheers!
