49th Parallel 1941

Production credit in the 1941 film '49th Parallel' is given to Associated Sound News Studios, Montreal. I can't find any record of this but at that time a large production house in Montreal was Associated Screen News Studios. Is it possible there was a mistake in the credits?

Hi Perry -

My apologies for the delayed response, our staff are working through a backlog of older, missed posts to help resolve any outstanding issues.

The filming location has now been corrected to "Associated Screen News Studios".  Cheers!

Hi Perry -

I just reviewed the title credits and can see that the company listing you referenced has since been removed.

Cheers!

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your message.

I still see 'Associated Sound News Studios, Montreal' at the above link under Filming and Production.

See the credit at 1:41 of the following:

I think there is a mistake in the original titles of 49th Parallel. I am alleging someone (in all likelihood now in cinema heaven) substituted 'Sound' for 'Screen', as I can find no record of Associated Sound News Studios.

I regularly walk by the Associated Screen News Studios building near my house in Montreal, where the emblem still appears (as in the above link). The building has now been converted into condominiums.

Maybe someone else has an opinion.

Regards,

Perry
