#210204-183506-214502 declined, why?

Does IMDb really feel this picture is good enough: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0708475/mediaviewer/rm3747609344/ ?

I hope a staffer will delete this photo and contact the contributor that added this picture to the database.

Whether or not it was uploaded by a studio partner, the quality is poor. So a response from IMDb is still required. Apart from that, it would be polite to answer if someone asks you something, but IMDb being a business, politeness is nowhere to be found I'm afraid.

Also, can someone tell me who and why the tag Acknowledged was added?

I don't believe anybody knowledgeable will explain why any thread is ever assigned the status "acknowledged" or none at all in rare cases, but it may suffice to say that the signal does not quite constitute good news, since threads can be stuck with such a status for multiple months, possibly years.

Hi Marco -

Apologies for the delay as this thread slipped through, looking at the image you reported, I can see that it was not removed because this particular image, despite the quality, was uploaded by our editors as a presskit image.

While we don't actively indiciate this reasoning in our Declined status in your Contribution History, the image cannot be removed.

Well, thanks for the explanation, but a mystery remains as to why such a low quality image was chosen for the stated purpose. Maybe the presskit system is due for an upgrade?

@Michelle About "the image cannot be removed.": Don't you mean "the image won't be removed"? Or do you really mean to say it is (technically) impossible to remove this image from the database?

If it is possible to remove this image, I really feel IMDb should delete it. Of course I believe you when you say it was uploaded by your editors as a presskit image, but I don't see why that should be relevant at all. I think the quality of the image should count, not the source (unless the source didn't have the right to add the image, then of course, the image should be deleted no matter what the quality is).

I hope Michelle answers that. In the meantime, I suspect that there is simply some kind of contractual obligation to keep the photograph online. Hopefully, it would eventually expire. The obligation might be a technical one, in which case, it would be nice if the particular image slide was no longer indexable on the site except through the lists system. I feel there are countless images on IMDb that maybe don't necessarily need to be deleted but definitely ought not show up in image galleries and definitely not be assigned as primary images of prolific pages.

I hope Michelle answers that.

The same goes for me, but it's already been 8 months...

Hi All -

My apologies for the delayed reply.  Circling back to this image issue, it is our policy not to remove press-kit images, as these images are often featured in editorial sections on the site and there are technical mechanisms that are reliant on the live image.

Regarding these instances where there are quality issues with press-kit images, I have raised this issue with the appropriate team for visibility and policy review concerning these specific images.

@Michelle Thanks for the response. I just want to add that probably hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of people have seen this photo and must have wondered why such a crappy photo is on IMDb. Obviously, as you point out, this goes for (much?) more photos in the database...
