1990s Disney films cinematographic process
Hello,
I've noticed several of the 1990s Walt Disney Feature Animation productions (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, etc.) are listed as having been filmed using standard "Spherical" cinematographic processes on their Technical Information pages. The major Disney animated films from The Rescuers Down Under forward were all produced using a digital computer hardware/software system known as CAPS (Computer Animation Production System), created fr the studio by Pixar. Given that the Pixar films like Toy Story are listed as having been produced using "Digital" cinematographic processes, should the Disney films be corrected to match? In both cases, the films were, of course, printed back to film for their original releases, but the vast majority of existing DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital copies of these films are taken from their digital intermediates rather than film elements (save for some of the end title scrolls)

Hi btouch99 -
We aim to capture the details associated with the original release of the film title, therefore, if the original release used the standard "Spherical" cinematographic processes, then this is what should be listed on the site, not the process used for any subsequent releases (ie. DVD, Blu-ray, Digital).
I hope this helps!

What OP is trying to say is that the films were produced entirely on digital and then transferred to 35mm for theatrical exhibition.
Look at this example.

"Julia and Julia" was shot on high definition video and the "cinematographic process" is not listed as being "spherical."
