Live Poll: Bossy Movie Titles

At one time or another, we've all had someone -- perhaps a supervisor, a co-worker, a sibling, someone like Peanuts' Lucy without the charm -- who is almost intolerably bossy. And now movies are joining that bully from our childhood playgrounds?! Which of these movie titles is the bossiest? https://www.imdb.com/list/ls049326796/ https://www.imdb.com/poll/zyUWdh8TDXk/ (At its start, the list has a few titles from TV series or even videos. I will either remove them or change the title and edit the intro.)

FYC “Kiss Me, Kate” to replace the not very bossy sounding title “Jingle All The Way”. The background on KMK is that it is the movie adaption of the Cole Porter musical about a theater group putting on a production of Shakespeare’s “The Taming Of The Shrew”. Their personal lives echo the roles they perform in the play. It is both a modern and traditional version of “TTotS” at the same time. I confess that when I had read the title of the poll. I had mis-understood what you had wanted. I had thought you were doing a poll of movies that was ether about bosses or had bossy people in them. It you want to do that poll, here are my suggestions: (Since James Cagney always shined in roles he were he could boss other people around. Here are two of his first): - One, Two, Three (1961) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055256/... - Mister Roberts https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055256/... - “The Solid Gold Cadillac” (1956) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049777/... - “The Pajama Game” (1957) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050814/... - “Glengarry Glen Ross” (1992) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104348/...

Thanks for the feedback. In order to make room for suggestions, I need to remove some first so thanks especially for recommending replacing 'Jingle All the Way.' I agree.

Since there's already a title, 'Kiss Me,' I decided not to add 'Kiss Me, Kate,' but thank you - and I did remove 'Jingle All the Way,' which was very helpful. I like your other poll idea. It's your idea so you get first dibs. I think you should do it; 'sounds like a great poll (and you're so right about James Cagney, lol). If you do it, let me know: we can link the two polls to each other. And an FYC for that poll, if you do. it: Lucy from Peanuts : ). If you don't want to make it, let me know and I'll make it and credit you, of course.

Rubyfruit, I had started work on that list . But when I listed “Scent Of A Women”, I had naturally just had to watch the Tango scene. And wouldn’t just know it, the auto play started the Tango scene from “Valentino” (1951) where the Argentine Tango dance at the beginning of Valentino’s “The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse” (1921) was recreated. So naturally I just had to look up the orginnal. And guess what got started running. Yup a poll on the best Hollywood tango dance scenes. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls048136147/ You helped start this! So go take a look!

I had started work on it but there is no discussion page for it because I got a lot more to add on. It had also lead to another easier to do poll on tangos because of “Scent of a Women” Lt. Col. Frank Slade, (Al Pacino), tango and the film and character will be on both of them. The tango poll: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls048136147/ The bossy character page - remember that this doesn’t have a discussion page yet!: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls048049754/ The commander from “Third Rock From The Sun” is going to get on there and “The Devil Wears Prada” Miranda Priestly too. Cruella DeVill too.

Thank you, Hoekkie! I'll add at least some of these. I may wait a bit, though, until I decide which ones to take off the list to make way for these suggestions.

I added "Get Him to the Greek." If I can prune this list a bit more, I'll add a couple of the others, like "Any Which Way You Can" and "Everything Must Go."

Rubyfruit: Run, Fat Boy, Run is probably the bossiest title you have listed already, and I think it would be hard to beat. However, I think that Give Us the Money (2012) also sounds like it belongs on the list for being a bossy title.

You're so right: 'Give Us the Money' definitely does. I'll certainly add it but might wait for feedback on which titles are the least bossy so I can remove those and put these additions in their place. : )

Mmmm, hasn't there be a poll about "imperative movie titles" already?

Yes, there was this one: https://www.imdb.com/poll/GOxb7a-9ttY/ But if most of the titles are different and the text is too, it wouldn't really be the same.

Seven titles are the same. I have two suggestions I want to add so I'll be cutting two, although I don't know which ones, yet. I was considering cutting two from those seven, actually, before I knew there was a similar poll, so I might as well.

“Any Which Way You Can” doesn’t sound like I’m being ordered about. It sounds like the second part of an order or adjective part, but not the main part of an order. I think you need a title that sounds like a command or order.

Let me do most rate what I mean by combining “Any Which Way You Can” with another title in order to show it is more of a phrase than a command. Example: “Get Shorty””Any Which Way You Can”!

Wait! I see a new poll forming here. But not today. It is the Fourth of July, Independence Day here in the USA. But which of these do sound the funniest when you combine another movie title with “Any Which Way You Can”? - “Get Shorty””Any Which Way You Can” - “Kill Bill” “Any Which Way You Can” - “Must Love Dogs””Any Which Way You Can” - “Do The Right Thing” “Any Which Way You Can” - “Kiss Me, Kate”, “Any Which Way You Can” - “Kiss Me Deadly”, “Any Which Way You Can” - “Get a Job” “Any Which Way You Can” And over half the titles on this list and the other too.

It was supposed to say, “Let me demonstrate what I mean”.

I agree. I removed 'Any Which Way You Can.' You've generated two good ideas for polls on this thread because combining titles, somewhat like you did above, would make for a good poll. Combining titles has been done before but not in the way that you did above. : ) Thanks for the feedback.
