Contribution Beta Opportunity: Multi-lingual Plot Outlines
Hi, Throughout 2019, our team has been working on features that ensure we can support the contribution, vetting, storage and publication of content for our global entertainment audience. We have, to date, launched:- IMDb Answers, which surfaces high-value content that is missing from IMDb for multiple countries. More details here -> https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/new-contribution-feature-beta-imdb-answersUTF-8 Support for Alternate Titles, initially in Japanese -> https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/japanese-alternate-titles These features are in addition to multiple behind the scenes technology upgrades, which launched with no impact to existing contribution experiences (as planned). These changes are rolling out incrementally, and we are learning more with each new feature we launch. Multi-lingual Plot Outline Contribution Beta Today, we are offering to our contributors the option to op-in to a contribution experience beta for multi-lingual plot outlines in the following languages:- GermanFrench (France)ItalianSpanish (Spain)HindiBrazilian PortugueseSpanish (Mexico)French (Canada)Japanese. How does it work? The feature is accessible to opted in contributors via IMDb Answers https://contribute.imdb.com/gaps/ We surface trending titles, or moves in theaters, that are missing a multi-lingual plot within our IMDb Answers question feed, with a call to action to add missing ones, for example:- When you click on the + Add plot outline button, you are taken to a simplified version of our existing contribution interface (which has the language populated and hidden), where you can enter the plot and submit as normal:- Plots submitted via this interface are vetted by our team as usual, count towards end of year contribution numbers and you can track the status of your contributions as usual. Here is one a member of the team added to Zulu (1964) :- Note: These multi-lingual plot s, at this point in time, are not displayed within IMDb experiences. That work will take place in the future, as it is complex from an implementation perspective. Why aren't the most popular titles missing plots? The team has been building a catalog of multi-lingual plots using this feature for quite a while. We have tested the feature end to end (where the end for the contributor is the display of the plot and it's status within our Track Contribution feature). We are not planning to add it (yet), via the 'Edit Page' version of our contribution interface. It will only be accessible via IMDb Answers. How do you opt in If you are interested in using this feature, we will need to have your user account id (e.g. ur********) to opt you in. We also need to know which languages you want to be opted in for. Your user account id can be found if you hover over your name in the top right-had corner of the home page and select your activity, then your urconst is listed in the URL. We will be collating opt-in requests for the feature, and feedback on the experience within this GS thread. Any questions, or feedback, just let me know. Cheers, Rachel
