Attribute (additional voices)

This is not listed as a valid attribute in the cast guide, yet someone went through episodes of Hotel Transylvania https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4858114/episodes, erasing the character name "Additional Voices" and adding this attribute. This seems wrong to me. Is it possible to completely remove the "additional voices" attribute which may be a holdover from a previous time. If no character name with the "additional voices" is the correct way to show these credits, then the cast guide needs to be updated.

EDIT: I guess it was only changed on the first episode of the series. I thought it was a bigger problem as they were showing in the cast list during edited as "additional voice" but maybe that just picks up the attribute of the first episode?

Hello Adrian,
If they're credited as "Additional voice" in the on-screen cast list then I guess that by the IMDb's rules, it's a valid credit.

But I would think that it should be the character name/description, not an attribute.

Hi Adrian -

As per our guide, Additional Voice credits are permitted for animated titles or video games as long as they are listed within, or immediately after, the main cast list.  So if there are cast members credited as additional voices, then the attribute is applicable. I hope this helps!

Sorry, this doesn't really clarify what I need to do. This attribute seems to be used only in a minority of the time and seems superflous when combined with the (voice) attribute. Maybe you can clarify which should be right:

Actor                         Role                                   Attribute
Bob Smith                 Additional Voices               (voice)
Dan Brown                                                          (voice) (additional voices)

Are you saying the Dan Brown is correct because I will say almost animated titles I look at go with the way Bob Smith is credited. It really should be one or the other. I'd say remove the (additional voices) attribute all together and make that the role.

Edit: I'm not question whether these actors should be listed but which is the correct way to list them. I do not believe the attribute is the correct way as it is inconsistent with the way other attributes are used. Attributes are for something that isn't directly listed in the credits, i.e. voice work, credit only or uncredited. The only attribute that is for the specific credit listing is the as attribute and that is only when people are listed in various different ways.

Hi Adrian -

To clarify further, your assumption is correct, the proper formatting is the former:

Actor                      Role                               Attribute
Bob Smith             Additional Voices           (voice)

Also, generally "Additional Voices" credits will fall under the Miscellaneous Crew category, however, for this TV Show the credits directly follow the cast and are eligible to be listed under the cast section.  Let us know if you have any further questions!

Then what is the point of the attribute (at least for the cast)? Should it be removed if this is the correct way to credit voice actors for animated titles that don't have a specified role? Is it for use only when these go in the Miscellaneous Crew category? I'm glad that this is the correct way as it is the way that most animated titles are listed.

Hi Adrian,

You are correct this shouldn't be an attribute for cast. I've done a bulk clean-up on these now.

Will
