why credit card info if only trying the free period?

The trial subscription is free of charge; if you don't want to continue, you can cancel and the card will not be charged (there's no need to wait until the end of the trial period: you can cancel anytime during the trial and the account will remain functional for the full 2 weeks).

We ask for a valid active credit card for a number of reasons, including:

• It can help confirm the user's identity when uploading photos or other content to be attached to a filmography page
  
• it prevents multiple sign-ups for trial memberships
  
• it ensures that the user has a valid payment method for the subscription (we only accept credit cards as payment)
