Photo reorientation?

Hey!

I've uploaded a picture to my page which has come out sideways in a landscape fashion. The image was taken vertically, and this is how it appears everywhere else. What can I do to get the image oriented vertically/right side up? Thanks!

Hello @RH2468,

Please keep in mind we currently accept the following image file types: GIF, BMP, PNG, and JPEG/JPG. All images submitted must be at least 300 pixels wide. When possible, we recommend uploading images larger than 300 pixels wide to enhance the quality of the images displayed on our site. We resize photos to fit our image qualifications.

For primary images on your IMDb page, we recommend a vertical alignment (i.e. portrait orientation). The landscape orientation is not recommended as your image will be cropped to suit the portrait orientation. Based on the dimensions and framing of your photo, you may get partially cropped out as a result.

Please also, check your internet connection. If you have an unstable internet connection, we recommend using a wired internet connection to avoid interruptions in uploading.

For more detailed guidance on troubleshoot your image upload, please visit our Help page.

Hi Edward

Thanks for the info. The image is a 3024w x 4032h pixels .jpg, was taken vertically, presents vertically on the computer and phone, yet still uploads from the computer to imdb sideways as a lanscape. Is there anything from these specifications that you can think of which would solve my problem? I've been through the help page as well, thank you!

Amazon/IMDb's image file adapter probably isn't designed to account for any of the exchangeable image file format (EXIF) data, including orientation EXIF data, found in an image file uploaded to the website. Instead, only the orientation data encoded in the actual GIF, BMP, PNG or JPEG part of the image file.

Thanks for taking the time to offer insight, you seem to have a better idea than I. Any suggestions as to what one could do in this instance? Appreciate it

RH2468, the IMDb staff will sort of be expecting you to open up the file in an image manipulation program/app (if you have one) and use the available tools to make sure that it is vertical. An alternative may be to use the upload feature of this forum and post a new message containing the image, as a test and so that other volunteers may troubleshoot, before you download what was uploaded. I've never experienced what you're experiencing, so I couldn't provide more exact advice.

@jeorj_euler,

In this case, there is no isse with the file. You need to save the photo with the vertical alignment/orientation first.

Once you have saved the photo with the proper orientation in your device, please proceed to upload the photo while logged in to your membership:

https://pro.imdb.com/mypage

and select the "Images" tab.
