Fake producer spamming jobs board with fake productions

There is an individual spamming the job boards with 7 different productions that they have been casting for since 2016; none of them have come to fruition and now there is an issue of actor safety because the adverts no longer tell you who is posting them.

Can this be addressed with some urgency now, as they are spamming the entire job board making it harder to find genuine ads for cast and crew, but also a safety concern, given that they are fake.

Hi Sally,

Appreciate the response, but this has been flagged on three previous emails, the third email was issued tonight when I noticed the job board was being spammed again; the thing is these fake job ads are still on the board. What sort of time frame are we looking at for this to be resolved?

Would the safe approach not be to take these job ads down while an investigation is pending?

I understand your concern, however the case has already been escalated to the appropriate team.

As we have previously mentioned via email, we cannot give you any additional details about the investigation.

Good afternoon,

The fake ads are still on the jobs boards.

I know you can’t give additional details about the investigation, but surely in the interest of safety can they not be taken down, during the investigation?

Afternoon Jon,

As member of the professional film industry I’m appalled how much the ball is being dropped here. Once again the individual I’ve reported previously has spammed the IMDbPro job boards again with the same fake casting calls that they have been positing since 2016. At this juncture I’d like to know who I can escalate this with. You have potentially multiple unsafe casting calls on the jobs boards, made by the same individual. Please can this be treated with serious urgency.

Hi Jon, it’s been a week and the topic here says solved, despite the fact it hasn’t. Two days ago the individual I reported has spammed the IMDb pro job board again with an entire page of fake casting calls. They seem to be doing this deliberately every-time another user or production company posts a job, they swamp the job board.

I’ve noticed the other fake castings they put up still haven’t been removed.  What is happening with this inquiry do you need me to provide more evidence? I’ve already emailed yesterday with a screenshot of what’s happening. This situation is not solved and to add more insult to injury your job board is still being massively spammed with these fake casting calls.

is something going to be done about this? A week is too long for fake and potentially unsafe casting calls to still be up on the job board.

Many thanks Jon,

I've emailed just now to the IMDb support email with details containing screenshots and links that connects the numerous casting calls over the years; as far back as 2015, that are connected to the individual I have reported, who is continuing to post these casting calls this week.

Not much more I can do, so over to you guys.

Kind regards

@Sally Hi Sally, 19 days ago I reported the problem of fake casting calls on the IMDb Pro job boards, the individual doing this has been spamming the job boards for years with the same fake productions.  First and foremost it's a safety issue as well making it very difficult for genuine posters to gain effective traction on the job board.  I've been told IMDb take user safety very seriously, but that's hard to take, when the problem still hasn't been addressed 19 days later.

I have submitted so much evidence over the past few weeks, only to see this fake casting director has spammed the entire first page yet again.  More recently they have posted casting calls for a production called Octoroon (offensive noun by the way), which they have been putting casting calls for on IMDb since 2015; seeking A-listers now apparently for paid and unpaid lead roles???  Come on now, this is unsafe and absurd.

For this to still be happening, for potentially unsafe, fake casting calls to still be on the job board 19 days later is massive red flag for IMDb.  Why has this not been sorted out? I've asked for a formal complaint process over the matter now, as this forum and the support team don't appear to be dealing with the matter, but have not been given one.

Please provide the official complaints procedure, so I can take the matter off the forum and into official channels.

Hi everyone, this is saying solved again, except the problem hasn't been dealt with.  The IMDb Pro Job boards are being spammed again today by the individual I reported two weeks ago.  When is this going to be dealt with. Not only are they posting fake casting calls that are a safety concern, but they're also spamming the job board to the point that genuine casting calls are being pushed out of sight on later pages. The guy I've reported has been doing this for years now, when will IMDb take action?

Struggling with patience now Jon. Two weeks now since I've reported this individual they have been posting hundreds of fake casting calls, and are still spamming the job board today, filling all of page one of the job board with another fake casting call, I've given more than enough evidence that there is something very suspect and concerning about this, and that this is also a safety issue for actors and filmmakers, yet IMDb have still not taken these posts down. As a producer and filmmaker I find this deeply disappointing and more importantly concerning that user safety is not being treated with urgency in resolving this issue.  Please advise the proper channels where I can escalate a formal complaint.

Good afternoon,

Can I be provided the formal complaints procedure now. The individual I reported is still posting fake casting calls even today, and nothing appears to have been done about it.  It's quite clear this individual is posing as a casting director to meet actresses, and that's a massive red flag as well as a safety concern.  This complaint has gone on for weeks now, with no change in the circumstances; at this juncture  i'd like to raise a formal complaint outside this forum.

Regards,

The individual reported has just spammed the entire first page of the job board yet again with a fake casting.  When are you going to deal with this?!  Aside from the obvious safety issue, their spamming of the job board, year after year, month after month, week after week, is making it incredibly difficult for anyone else to get traction on posting job ads if continuously pushed out of sight on the older pages by fake casting call spam.  For goodness sake sort it out, this has gone on long enough, I'm noticing other forums now are questioning why IMDb is letting this guy get away with this nonsense for so long.

Seeing as my last thread seems to be getting largely ignored, I'm posting again for this problem to get actioned.

I have reported since October 23rd that you have an individual posting fake casting calls on the job board, the same jobs they have been posting since 2015, and IMDb don't appear to have done anything about this complaint. This person is still posting more fake casting calls today filling entire pages of the job board!

The individual; Gary Springer, I believe both these IMDb profiles is him: Gary Springer (II) https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm4063581/, also known as Gary Springer (IV) https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm9344361.

They have been posting fake casting calls for the same productions now for getting on for 8 years now, spamming the imdb pro job boards, year after year, month after month, day after day.  I have raised the alarm countless times now, that this is a safety concern for actors and film crew looking for work on the boards.

Here are links, 1 per each fake production below they are supposedly casting; but please bear in mind these are one example out of many job postings they have added to the board per production.

PAPER BLACK
https://pro.imdb.com/job/ro3303458927?ref_=cn_all_imdbpro_role_239
There are 92 job postings for this project

DIAMONDS IN THE SKY

There are 100 job postings for this project

OCTOROON

There are 6 job postings for this project

SATI
https://pro.imdb.com/job/ro4248160367?ref_=cn_all_imdbpro_role_349
There are 6 job postings for this project

DIVA WARS MIAMI REALITY SHOW LOCAL HIRE ONLY
https://pro.imdb.com/job/ro585663087?ref_=cn_all_imdbpro_role_8
There are 5 job postings for this project

A.E.T. SINGING COMPETITION
https://pro.imdb.com/job/ro3949101679?ref_=cn_all_imdbpro_role_394
Only 1 job for this project

MODELEWANNABE REALITY SHOW
https://pro.imdb.com/job/ro2299447407?ref_=cn_all_imdbpro_role_377
There are 10 job postings for this project

The project they titled OCTOROON, they have been spamming the job boards with job postings for this one for 8 years; going back to 2015, and now seem to be doing the same thing with PAPER BLACK and DIAMONDS IN THE SKY. All being cast for years but never being made.

How many times do these need to be reported before you take action?  I've emailed a ton of information and links going back years to the IMDb support team and yet you're still allowing him to spam the job board.

I have a production I need to post on the job board, but I refuse to put it up there next to fake, unsafe casting calls.

Is anyone actually doing anything about this? It's been nearly a month now and the fake casting calls are still being posted on the IMDb Pro job boards.
