Weighted Average Rating of "Damnation"

I read a lot of the FAQ info about weighted average ratings but I still have a question.

"Damnation" has a series rating of 7.4.  When I click on the "See more episodes" link in the "Top-Rated Episodes" section of the series page, I see all ten episodes.  The individual episodes have ratings ranging between 8.1 and 9.3.

I understand that you use a proprietary weighting system, but I'm assuming you use the same algorithm for individual episodes that you use for the series as a whole.  If that's true, I'm not sure how you get to 7.4 from ten episodes rated between 8.1 and 9.3.

If 7.4 is the correct result, it might make sense to explain how this happens in your FAQ.  If this is *already* explained in your FAQ, I apologize.  I read as much as I could, given my admitted personal problem with *patience*. ;)

P.S.
I could not carry on with life without IMDB.

Series are rated separately from episodes. I would say most people don't rate series but individual episodes. The series rating is not a weighted average of the individual episodes.

Didn't think of that.  Thanks.  (I still think that should be in the FAQ though.  But maybe it already is and I missed it.  Thanks again.)

Good point, thanks. We have opened a ticket to update the FAQ.

I'm quite impressed at the speedy response and action.  And I think it's a good idea to have a separate and independent rating for the series as a whole.  Hadn't thought about that before.
