unable to access

Since yesterday I'm unable to access IMDb, the connection attempts time out. It happens with Opera, Chrome and Firefox, on Windows 10, all the latest versions. I can access the mobile version via Android, using the same router wi-fi.

Hi @aicardigianluca

Can you confirm if you're still experiencing issues with accessing IMDb? It sounds like there may be a internet connectivity issue with your device as you've noted access via Android works fine.

I still can't connect to IMDb, and it seems more complicated (and weird) than connectivity issue. Here's some more info:

- I connect perfectly with my tablet, which is not Android, it's a Surface running the same version of Windows 10 (the latest) I run on my PC.

- All my devices (the PC that can't connect to IMDb; the Windows tablet and the Android phone that can) are connected in Wi-Fi through the same router.

- I don't experience any problem with any other website, and I daily use plenty of them for work;

- If I use a VPN, I can connect. So a IP issue? But aren't the other devices using the same IP from the router?

- I looked in the Firewall status and found no mention of IMDb in the restricted site list (which is empty); I also added it to the trusted site list, to no avail. It's possible I didn't look deep enough, though.

- I have a vague recollection of having answered an Internet Security alert while navigating to IMDb right before it stopped connecting, and I'm not sure if I dismissed it in a wrongful manner, but I can't retrace what that could have caused, if anything.

- The PC doesn't connect ("can't be reached, took too long to respond" message) to https://www.imdb.com/ or http://www.imdb.com/, but it connects to https://m.imdb.com/ and to the domain we're currently on.

- I ran a full antivirus scan, found nothing.

- I disabled all the browser's add-on, no cigar. (Then again, as noted, it happens with any browser, Chrome-based and Mozilla-based).

I'd like very much for some help here.

I have found that if you were using a VPN during registration and normal use and then you do not, this site "sprinklr" that IMDb uses goes nuts try to make sense of it and times out. It tries to "Handshake" and the previous "handshake" does not match. It is poorly designed!

Thanks, but I never use VPN for navigation, I just used it to test the connection. I certainly didn't register with VPN (I registered 20 years ago, I didn't even know what VPN was back then!). I have no problems with sprinklr.

Solved!

I had a bad DNS set up (due to a temporary installation of Unlocator). I switched back to automatic obtain server address, it fixed it! Thanks for the help anyway!
