On the authentification process.

Dear Helpdesk,
I recently wanted to put a comment on the Message Board of the 2011 movie The Resident, stating how much I liked Swank's character in the movie. However, I was asked to verify my account.
I thought, well, they might just send me an e-mail like every other site has, but no. I was asked to enter either my credit card number (That just made this site completely unauthentic, suspicious even, and absolutely untrustworthy. Besides, believe it or not, some people don't have a credit card!), or my phone number. Now, first off, I don't want to put my phone number on a site I no longer trust, secondly, I don't want my phone number to end up on the internet (which it probably already has in some way or another, but you get the point) and last but not least, living in Europe, receiving a text from you would probably be as expensive as any Rapper's "Bling Bling".
I'm really disappointed that a site THIS big asks me for information that private; I actually regret creating an account in the first place.
