Missing exact match in search popup

There are systematic problems with IMDB's search.  When I enter an exact title, the correct result often doesn't appear in the search popup, even when it appears in the list of results (sometimes in the first position) after I press enter.

P.S. a good example of this is "Love and 50 Megatons".  When I enter this in the search box, the popup says "No results found.", but as soon as I press enter or click on the magnifying glass, it comes up as the only hit.

That's because it's a short.

Shorts and TV/web episodes don't appear in the pop up, as Films and TV/web series take priority.

Like with a search I did last night to check whether a 6 episode TV series had been added to IMBD yet, it gave me no results.

However when I pressed the magnifying glass it showed me a short episode by the same name, which is part of a 3 episode web series that I added earlier this year.

It was the only search result, as it's the only title with that name so far, but will soon have 2 titles with that name when I add this TV series.

This thread has already been marked „solved“, but it is not solved and the answer provided is incorrect.  The behavior is inconsistent, so it took me a while to find a counter-example to the provided explanation.  If I search for „Espion(s)“ (original title), the correct title („Spy(Ies)“ in English) does not appear in the popup:

If I then press „enter“, the correct entry appears at the top of the list. This isn‘t because it is a foreign title.  If I search for „Ne le dis a personne“, the correct title („Tell no one“ in English) comes up at the top of the list in the popup box.
Sorry about the formatting, I tried to left-justify the screenshot, which made the text flow around it.  I couldn‘t find any way to undo this, neither an „undo“ button, nor formatting the picture as a quote, a list or a paragraph.
Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Missing exact match in search popup

@rsbrux

But the pop-up _does_ show that result, just not at the top of the list.

Except my answer is correct...

Like I said...

Shorts and TV/web episodes do not appear in the search pop-ups.

You have to click the magnifying glass to see more results, then either more title matches or exact title matches to see the rest of the search results.

Love and 50 Megatons (Short 2019) - IMDb is a short which is why it does not appear at all in the search pop-up like I said.

Spy(ies) (2009) - IMDb is a feature film which is why it does appear in the search pop-up like @bderoes said.

Sorry, my iPad screen didn’t show it.  Shouldn‘t it be at the top?

@rsbrux The pop-up matches are by popularity, not closeness of match.
