List Function

Some suggestions for futured updates:

1) When we view our list, we are given the option to choose how we want to view it ('Sort by' & 'View'). But the setting we choose cannot be saved, and if we go back to the list we will see the default.
We should be given the option to save the way we want the list to be displayed to users.
The same applies to the Rating list.

2) When we change the rating (without deleting it) on a movie we have in our list, it should not appear as the most recent but should remain in the position where it was first listed.
It will only change position (necessarily) when we completely erase the previous rating and re-rate the movie.

3) When we delete a film from our list, it would be wiser the rating to automatically deleted, rather than doing it manually.

@George

I see that someone has already down-voted your idea. I'm tempted to join them.

In particular, I don't like the idea of removing a rating just because a title is removed from a list. I often have a title on multiple lists, and removing it from any list should not alter the rating.

But perhaps your suggestions are specific to the IMDb default lists only? Watchlist, Checkins, Ratings (which is not actually a list). I use Custom Lists extensively.

Also, I don't believe your assumption in #2 is correct: that the position in the list is altered if we re-rate a title. But again, you may be referring to Ratings View, and not other lists.

@bderoes yes, I'm referring to custom lists.

You may be right, since we have the ability to rate any movie, regardless of our personal list. They could at least add a search option in the custom lists, so we can easily find a movie we want.

As for #2 I mentioned, I suggest you better work it out in your mind.
It's simple logic!

#2: custom list order does not change based on rating date.

I didn't say that!

If you change the rating of a movie you added to your list a week ago, you'll see that it's listed as the most recent. And it shouldn't, because the rating wasn't deleted to be re-entered, but changed/corrected.

@George

If you change the rating of a movie you added to your list a week ago, you'll see that it's listed as the most recent.

If you want to preserve your watched order (and allow for re-watches) then we recommend you use the “Check-in” function and list. Please see -> https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/social/check-ins-faq/GG59ELYW45FMC7J3

For example, my check-ins list at https://www.imdb.com/user/ur1000000/checkins records every movie I have seen on the date I first saw it since we launched check-ins in August 2011 (all 7,444 viewings, including a separate record for each re-watch).

Hope this helps.

@George

Here are the sort options for Custom Lists, Watchlist and Checkins:

"Most Recent" is a sort feature on the Your Ratings page.
Your item above says "2) When we change the rating (without deleting it) on a movie we have in our list, it should not appear as the most recent "
Under what circumstances do you find that happens when viewing a list other than Your Ratings?
BTW, when you Export your ratings, only 1 date is included for each title, as contrasted with exporting lists, which show a date added and a date modified. That suggests that IMDb may not keep two dates in the ratings file.

@bderoes that features are only in viewing page. I don't see it when I am in "Edit" page.

@Col_Needham I'm not talking about watch order, but "add" order.

And there is no reason to go to 5 different places to do something that it can be easily done in one place!

You still seem to miss my point: that what you are requesting in #2 is not an issue with all lists, but only with viewing the page called Your Ratings, but you characterize it as something on any list, custom or pre-allocated (Watchlist, Checkins).

@bderoes Does IMDb belong to you?
