Linking/Combining two accounts

I have two IMDB accounts and would like to link/merge/combine them.  The primary one is with a me.com email address and the other is a gmail.com address.  I "linked" the gmail account to my primary account, but the content, e.g. contributions and reviews, are not showing up.

How did you "link" the gmail account to the primary (me.com) account?

I don't imagine it would let you change your email address to one that's already in use.

I'm not aware of any way to automatically move lists/ratings/reviews from one account to another, except "by hand". For lists, you can create a new list and copy 250 items at a time to it fairly easily.

Perhaps someone else will surprise me with a different answer.

Is "on the gmail" an answer to my question?

I wanted to know what page on IMDb you used to "link" the accounts.

@bderoes, I'd created an account using my me.com address back in 2000 and made some contributions and rated some things.  Then in 2006, apparently forgetting I already had an account, I created one using my gmail.com address, contributing and rating from there.

So, to your question, from my me.com account, I went in to Account Settings and, under Personal Information, there is a Linked Accounts option.  When you click on that link, it takes you to a page where you can link Amazon, Facebook, Google and Apple accounts.  So, knowing that my gmail.com address would be unique, I linked the Google account.

The contributions are really the only thing I'm really interested in transferring from the gmail.com account to my me.com account but linking the Google account did not add them to my list.

Thanks for the details.

The Linked Accounts page offers 4 options for linking: Amazon, Facebook, Google, Apple. These are exactly the 4 additional options for how to login to your account.

So on your me.com-imdb account, you currently are set up to be able to login using either your IMDb login (me.com), or your Google login (gmail). I'm surprised it allowed that because your gmail-imdb account is already using that login.

When you want to login to your gmail-imdb account, I suppose you must use the IMDb login option now, and cannot use the Google option to reach it.

At any rate, this linking is _not_ about linking 2 IMDb accounts together, but linking the login credentials from 1 of these 4 platforms to the IMDb login credentials for that IMDb account.

As I said before, I don't think there _is_ a way to merge IMDb user accounts, and especially not to merge contribution histories.

If no one else responds here within a few days, then you can use the form

https://help.imdb.com/contact

to reach an IMDb employee, and request that they respond to this question (perhaps even give the url to this thread).

I can confirm that you cannot "Merge" user accounts. I requested this by direct contact about 7 years ago. They had no way to do it. And why would they? Merging user accounts would make IMDb's market demographics numbers shrink. Advertising $$$$s!!!!

Hi @NormShea

Apologies for any inconvenience though I can confirm that we are not able to merge accounts.
