How do I stop the ratings pop up?

For the past few days I keep getting a pop up asking me for my rating on each episode of a show I am watching.  How do I stop this happening?

Yeah I don't like that addition either, it's like they changed the pages and now have lost confidence in users working out how to rate things so are forcing it in your face, when unprompted pop-ups are one of the things people hate most on the internet. It actively discourages browsing through the pages on the site.

Same. I also hate pop ups.

It's like when I'm searching for something, and the only place that information seems to be is on a newspaper website, I hate having to click on them to find out the rest of the information which could take literally seconds to read, as there's always sign up pop ups, sign in pop ups, cookies/terms and conditions pop ups, advert pop ups, and/or random video pop ups which have nothing to do with the story, that can make the story take a minute or more to load.

As an IMDB top contributor who barely watches anything anymore as this takes up most of my time, I'm constantly clicking on random productions I have no interest in to see if I have the correct people, yet now I keep getting asked whether I've seen those random productions and to rate them if I have.

If I wanted to rate them I would!

I don't need to be constantly reminded that there's a rate function.

Even if I had seen them I wouldn't be rating them anyway.

Why not?

I haven't rated or reviewed anything in the nearly 10 years I've been a member, or the 2 years I've been a contributor, as like with most things, I like to do things in a particular order.

What will that order be?

I don't know yet, but I'll most likely start rating and reviewing productions, once all the productions I know of which filmed in my city, are added to IMDB and have all their cast, crew, companies, websites etc completed.

It will no doubt take me years to finish, as I spend more time updating random stuff I stumble across along the way (like some Detroit based productions I've been updating for the last few days), plus there's 1000's of productions I know of which filmed in my city Bradford - the world's first UNESCO City of Film.

I'll probably start rating the oldest productions first, and work my way up to the newest.

It's effing annoying.

I'll rate the series when I want, thankyouverymuch. Please tell me that there is a way to disable it.

Hi @tammy_jackson_ack175tdrqgix

This is an interesting feedback though so we will convert this over to the "Idea" section. So that other users can vote/comment upon it for future consideration.

Very recently the IMDB desktop site has made a change so now EVERY film/TV series I visit (whilst signed in) it automatically shows a popup asking me to rate it.  This is intrusive, annoying and no matter what I tried I cannot get it to stop.  The only way I can get it to stop it popping up on every details page I visit is to be signed out.

So, congratulations IMDB, you have forced at least one user to stop logging into your site due to your decision.

@Rom Sorry about this.  As mentioned below, we are investigating a bug here.  Please could you login again and let us know if it is still appearing each time you visit every title page?  It should still appear occasionally, but not on every title page.

Note that if you dismiss the pop-up without actually rating any of the titles five times, we should never show the pop-up ever again.

Yes things have improved.  Is it 5 times per title or 5 pop ups?

@tammy_jackson_ack175tdrqgix  Good to hear it has improved.  It should stop after five pop-up ads in total from what I understand (the team building this are in the US and I am in the UK so I cannot get a quick answer right now).

Thanks for the problem reports and sorry for the inconvenience.  A bug impacted the frequency of the pop-up.  We have made one change already to improve the situation and others are pending.

Please can you let us know if things have improved.
