Duplications When Creating Lists

If I'm creating a List in IMDB, is there any mechanism for preventing duplicates? If the list is long it can be difficult to remember what you've already listed.

Hi Michael Adrian,

Although IMDb does not have an internal mechanism, you may wish to try this:
Sort the list by title or name, and visually check for duplicates.

... or
1. Export your list
2. Import the list into Excel, Open Office or other spreadsheet program
3. Sort the list by the title ID, name ID or image ID.
4. Add column with a formula that indicates when there are duplicate consecutive entries.

Obviously, it would be easier to have a feature in IMDb to do this automatically.

Thank you, that is helpful.

If you make a rule for yourself to always add to a list from the title page's + button, you'll see when it's already there.

Also, I highly recommend this Tampermonkey script (for Chrome) which colorizes titles on your lists:
https://openuserjs.org/scripts/AltoRetrato/IMDb_My_Movies_enhancer
To customize the colors, you have to edit the script; described in comments at about line 230.
Not sure if it's available on other browsers.

Ah yes, I see what you mean about the title page button - another helpful tip, thank you!
