IMDb tv is the ONLY APP app on my Amazon firestick that crashes.

IMDb tv is the ONLY APP app on my Amazon firestick that crashes. This happens on every commercial break for shows like Leverage and others for an example, which never happens with the any of the other apps and it’s very frustrating.  I see no reason to call Amazon, since the problem is only with IMDB TV.  I realize this is a free apps with free show that gets paid by advertisers.  But, it doesn't make it right to lie and pass the buck to Amazon, when Amazon can't fix IMDB TV issues.

Hi Rosalind,

IMDb is an Amazon company.

If you're experiencing playback issues with IMDb TV via the Amazon Prime Video app or website or an Amazon Fire TV device, please contact Prime Video support directly for further assistance.

Mine freezes also on commercials always, and sometimes anywhere throughout the program, but only on imdb programming.

It is an Amazon problem.  I am not able to watch due to saying Video Unavailable, please try again.  If this problem continues contact Amazon Service.  When I contacted service, I was told to reset firestick to factory defaults.  When I do this, I lose my 3rd party apps.  It happens every week.  I am not going to continue resetting firestick.  The app is automatically included in the hardware of the stick, therefore you are unable to uninstall and reinstall.  I have the 4K firestick.

I'm not worried about it, I can watch via my computer.  I was just trying to tell the other people what they could do for it to work again on the firestick.  I don't like having to try and find all my 3rd party apps to add back to my firestick.

I don't know if it's still relevant, but it seems the app works only in US territories.

Amazon Fire Stick and  I watch on a smart TV. IMDb is ths only app that freezes almost every time that I attempt to watch a show. I restart the firestick and that seems to help sometimes, but not always. I have found that after I restart the firestick and then go back to the show if I pause the show for five minutes or so, that seems to help. That would indicate to me a streaming issue and by pausing it gives the stream a chance to catch up. I am an IT person and IMDb clearly has a capacity issue and the solution is more servers and or an increased bandwidth.

I see that over and over again IMDb's response is to call Amazon Prime. I've done that and they tell me that this is an IMDb issue.

I know that this is a free service and you make your money from the advertisements. Be careful IMDb. If the advertisers find out about this widespread issue they might start to pull their advertisements.

It's time for IMDb to seriously address this issue and correct it! BTW I live in the US.

Hi Kimberly,

I’m sorry to hear you're experiencing playback issues with IMDb TV.

Please try the following steps:

My name is Lou Cunningham not Kimberly.

I have performed all of the steps listed below and this did not resolve the issue.
IMDb TV is the only streaming service that I have the issue of freezing streaming and the vocal track does not match the video track.
I have Amazon Prime, YouTubeTV, Hulu, NetFlix, CBS All Access and the CW. I have no issues with any of the other streaming services on IMDb TV.

- Restart your device
- Ensure that your device and app/web browser have the latest updates
- Pause other internet activity – especially if other devices are using the network at the same time
- Check your internet connection
- Disable any VPN or proxy servers

If you are still experiencing playback issues, please provide us with the following information:

1. Your device model: I use a Fire Stick connected to a flat screen TV
2. Your device's operating system & version: Software Version Fire OS 5.2.7.4 Fire TV Home Version 6240499.1
4. Movie/TV Series Title (including season and episode number, if applicable): This happens with anything that I attempt to watch on IMDb TV
5. Explanation of the problem (including steps to reproduce):Start any program and I see freezing and vocal track does not match the video track. Sometimes, not always, if I pause the program for ten or fifteen minutes it gets better (i.e. the vocal track matching the video track), but as time progresses, the issue comes back.

I cannot watch anything on IMDB app on my firestick 4k. I am quite disappointed that IMDB is not responding to this issue. I can only watch its content on my phone or pc, and there isn't even any casting.

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm having the exact same problem. I bought an Insignia Fire TV recently, and IMDb is the only app where I'm having this issue. It's pixelated, freezes, the video pauses while the audio continues, and sometimes it just gives up and crashes. Netflix, YouTube, HBO, Disney Plus, Hulu (with ads) - they all run just fine.

I've tried it with WiFi and with a direct ethernet connection. I've tried pausing to let it load. I've tried resetting the TV to factory defaults. I clear the caches regularly on the minimal amount of apps I run. Nope.

This is definitely an IMDb app issue. I don't have supersonic bandwidth, but I have no problem running any other apps on this TV. I also can watch it just fine on my PC, even with a VPN.

I wish they'd fix this, or if they aren't going to, let us uninstall it. It's useless in its current state.

I was having the same issue. Every time I started an episode of something it would glitch and freeze three times and then once it started playing back their voices and their mouths did not match up and it was like watching an old Japanese film that was dubbed with English. I called tech support and I told them I did not want to reset the firestick to factory settings as I saw other people saying in this thread they were told to do, because I did not want to download all my apps again. The tech support person told me to unplug the power from the fire stick and wait five seconds unbelievably this worked! Their mouths and their voices are now in sync! Hope this helps someone else. Goodluck

So do we all agree IMDB is just a piece of crap app?

Sad thing is, is that IMDB was a pure goto for all movie information pre AMAZON.  Now, the app is acting a  lot like a lot of peoples firesticks...  hardly working, glitchy and seemingly  without recourse.  My first Firestick wouldn't boot at all. (how did it make it to my house)? Apparently quality control isn''t a thing.  The IMDB app crashes every time.  Yesterday I tried watching something and not only was the audio out of sync, but it was playing at the wrong speed! like a record player on the very lowest RPM setting... like wowwww  wowwww  grrrrrrrrrraaamm .  Hit pause to see if it would sync, of course it crashed instead, and when it rebooted it started playing something I NEVER asked it to play,  something it does almost everytime I try to use it. Which is why I've almost completely stopped using it. Also why I've thought about jailbreaking my devices, so I can delete that crap off it along with the other forced apps taking up the built in pathetically low amout of RAM. Also why my orders from Amazon have gone from multiple times a month to... haven't ordered anything from them in months.

My issue is that once in IMDb I cannot get out. The only way is to shut down everything, tv, fire stick, and sound bar. It basically locks up everything.

I have two TIVO Stream 4K devices.  Each on a different TV.  Strangely, I only have a problem with one set up.  The problem with the other is the screen will go black when I get to the point of starting a show.  When I try to reenter IMDb, it goes right to the black screen.  I've tried clearing Data and clearing cache, but the only thing that resets it is doing a Force Stop.  Then I can get back into IMDb, but with the same problem.  I also tried reinstalling with the same results.  This morning I found something that did work, at least for my test.  After doing the things I already mentioned, I did not sign in.  I still had access to all the programs, but when I didn't sign in everything worked.  This was just a quick test but maybe it's the solution.   BTW, the other set up that did not have the problem shows that I am signed in.  Maybe the problem is caused by signing in on two devices with the same email address.
