What was the last film you saw and how would you rate it? Pt. 18

Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

What is going on in this photo? Is she being hugged by a giant, long-haired gorilla?

Huh. Sometimes (a lot of times) I wish my background wasn't Heinz 57 dull white American...it would be so interesting to be part of a culture featuring accouterments like that!

When referring to a person as Heinz 57 it's like calling a dog a mutt. Background of multiple unknown origins...

I just saw Shyamalan's "Split". Why does it get such bad reviews? I liked it. 8/10

It's been getting great reviews. Shyamalan's best film in years. The IMDb rating is 7.5. Rotten Tomatoes critics give it 75% and audiences give it 81%. Are you maybe confusing it with another film?

I was watching the first 3 or 4 pages of reviews on IMDb, which are primarily negative.

Primal Fear - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117381 - 7/10 - Andre Braugher and  (of course) Ed Norton were great, but the rest was kinda meh. And the writing for the Laura Linney character was TERRIBLE!

Coincidence or did you watch it because of Split? Yesterday I was in my mind doing a face-off of both movies in terms of which one is better depicting dissociative identity disorder.

Nope. Just a coincidence. Which do you think it better?

I liked Ed Norton's performance, but while he only had to play 2 different identities in 'Primal Fear', James McAvoy plays 8 different identities/characters in 'Split' (not a spoiler, he is credited for 8 roles in the movie) and he really does an amazing job! Often you can tell from the look on his face which identity is in the light at each given moment.

Have you seen the Score? Norton plays (in a way) two roles in it as well.

Man Down -  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2461520/ 8/10
Though not the best directed movie, this one has an emotional element I've rare seen in a movie.
Shia Labeouf was sensational. Didnt get enough praise.
Very underrated movie. I recommend people watch.

Postcards from the Edge - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100395 - 7/10 - based on Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds' relationship; reportedly when Debbie asked Mike Nichols if she could play the part that was based on her, he told her she wasn't right for it.

I wonder why he thought so... maybe he had already picked Shirley MacLaine and she didn't look like she could be her mother.

I love the scene below so much! The song became a big hit in Belgium and stayed in the charts for many weeks. I'm really looking forward to Johan Heldenbergh's latest movie The Zookeeper's Wife (2017).

I love the cast and director of the film, but I have a bad feeling about it. I will definitely watch it, but it seems to me like we have seen this movie many times before.
