Live Poll: Which Kind of Video Games Do You Prefer?

Intro:

Since the 1970s video games entered the entertainment sector in a new ground-breaking way. Even Hollywood recognized the power of computer games for the future. In 1982 TRON (1982) was released, a picture that dealt with the imagination of the inner space of computers - the digital revolution started. Many gamers are bound to their passion. Since then many other game-based movies came out, one of them was Ready Player One (2018), directed by Steven Spielberg. Within the last 50 years, there have been multiple changes in the gameplay, the graphics, the sound and the complexity of the games.

Which kind of games do you prefer?

Tell us here.

Suggestions:

Please first think of the kind of video game and if it matches with the other options on the list. It should clearly differ from the former examples. I'm searching for titles, even in the already made options (I've put the issues about in brackets, self-explaining). My goal is to pick three examples and also link them with an entry on IMDb, so please look for the examples before suggesting. I can't put it into an option, if there isn't an entry on IMDb. The further idea is to pick older, medium and newer examples in one option. If it can't be, because of the nature of the option, it hasn't to be. Example: Racing games. The were early productions which were a lot of in between over the decades, so there are very primitive racing games up to highly designed 3D-games. But for the oldest games there may be no new examples, and also for the newest games there can not be old matching examples, like eg. tablet gem-games. I hope that is enough to explain.

Thank you Mario, I'll put them on the list. Great stuff! Did you know that River Raid and 1942 were on the index in G.? It wasn't allowed to make adverisements or other commercials about because of preventing youth to not grow violent. If you were 18 some of the cencored games could be bought under the counter by 18+ y.o. Games like Green Beret. They really banned the 320x200 pixel games for being violent. ;)

@Breumaster I'm afraid Turrican is rather a platform game, just like Mario Bros/Atari.

Ok, then I'll put it into that section. I was a little confused, because it seems to be a jump-and-shoot. ;)

Today there are a lot of cool games with cool graphics, but I like strategy games even though they don't have cool effects.

Thank you for pointing out. Strategic games are already on the list. There are some real good titles I enjoyed pretty much. :D

If there are no necessary changes, corrections or further suggestions, I'd say it's ready to go!

Thank you, Jaf_Ismael. I'll put them into the existing options on the list as further examples. I'll ask for a re-push then.

@BonaFideBOSS

Thank you for contributing. Can you tell me a little more about the difference to the other games on the list. I'd put it as an option on the list and ask for a re-push, if I better knew. Thank you.

Open-world video games are games where the players can explore and approach objectives freely, as opposed to a world with more linear and structured gameplay.

Since you have first-person shooter on your list,

FYC:

Third-Person Shooter video games.

Like Max Payne 3 and Hitman: Absolution.

=====

Btw, God of War is not a shooter video game.
