I know why I didn't want to check the list, I wouldn't find "The Silence of the Lambs", same goes with "Jaws", these movies are never considered horror classics although they're probably more terrifying than all these horror flicks put together

I Saw the Devil gets my vote. A bleeding brutal affair, but it's incredibly well-made. The only bit that grates me is when the heroish officer cuts up the killer's Achilles tendon. Or tendons. I can't remember if he did it to both or just one (I haven't seen the film in a few years), but that's all that bothers me.

The original Halloween, directed by John Carpenter, is one of my personal favorites. On Carpenter films, I would also add “The Thing” from 1982. The visual effects are a bit dated, but it is still one of my favorite horror movies.
