Live Poll: The IMDb Poll Board User's Beloved Little Comedy Movies

Intro:

This time the IMDb poll board users present their most beloved littlecomedies. We all know the big comedies, which were pretty successfullike Life of Brian (1979), The Big Lebowski (1998), or The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). But there a few comedies didn't reach such a wide audience. Which of these comedies rated by 50.000 or less users with a rating above 6/10 is your favorite? If you haven't seen one of them, vote for the one you're most interested in. Discuss here.

Rules:

The idea is to collect as many really funny movies that are not so widely known to present them as an alternate to the total mainstream movies, the kings. They can be nasty or rude, no matter.
Only comedy movies, rated 6.5/10 or higher with less than 50.000 ratings. One movie per user - if there are not so many contributers, this rule can be enhanced. They might be comedies you can watch over and over again and still laugh.

Breu,
I would LOVE to contribute, but I can't... most of the comedy movies that I like have been rated by much more than 50,000 people.
Sorry.

That's ok. There is no obligation. ;)
Thank you for searching.

I have several that might fit within the criteria, to be honest. Many Soviet comedies are underseen internationally, but I'm reluctant about including those, since they are not little by definition.

So my pick is Lunatics: A Love Story (1991). I'll never stop plugging this hidden gem of an independent film.

Nikolay. :D
I'd put your suggestion on the list, if it would match the criterion of 6.5/10. Same rules for all, isn't it?. Please tell me a little more about your pick. Can people buy it a stores? How can users of IMDb see it? What kind of comedy is it?

I think Bruce Cambell talks about making the film in his memoir If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor.

The problem as an option is that not many people will have seen this movies. Ok, so I put the question"...  is your favorite or which of them would you like to see most?" to the intro of the list. But afterwards - how many people will be able to watch this movie? Are there sources? And still - what is this comedy about? I don't say no to it as an option. But I want to know the core of the idea of this option. :D

Breumaster, that's a bit unfortunate, I thought that 6,1 would do. :)

Availability is indeed a big problem for this movie. Other than TV recordings and VHS copies (and rips from them) the movie was available as an official DVD-R bootleg on director Josh Becker's website at one point, but that is also not an option now... It's still a movie very much worth looking for.

In my humble case movie led me out of a rather dark period in my life: after a longtime illness which made me skip a year in an academic leave I was in that place when I had to sit a summer before doing first year again. And then I stumble upon this movie and it virtually guides my way out of isolation. I'd say this movie is very, very on point for modern situation with many people, as well. It might help a lot with quarantine fatigue many people are having.

Changed the intro question a little:
"...  is your favorite or which of them would you like to see most?"

Breumaster, my condolences.

You absolutely should take as much time as you need to cope with the situation.

Thank you guys.
We knew it for longer, it was foreseeable, but when it comes, it hurts. And it needs a few days to become clear with it. But in the end it is what we all will face (hopefully very much) later. Thank you for your kind words.

Good poll! I can't believe I forgot to add mine. I made a little list a while ago.

May I suggest one small edit to the intro?

This time the IMDb poll board users present their favorite little comedies. We all know the big comedies, which were pretty successful like Life of Brian (1979), The Big Lebowski (1998), or The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).

Thank you ruby. I can't remember to have written it so wrongly. Sometimes I got the feeling that the database mixes something up. Thank for showing up the errors. I've cut the second "their" and the other word.

Transamerica (It's definitely a comedy more than anything else.)

(and, if there's room you don't want to save:)

Waiting for Guffman
Shadows and Fog

A belated comment my pick would be for Dick (1999) with for just missing the vote threshold honorable mentions going to Love Me If You Dare (2003), Yesterday (2019) and That Thing You Do! (1996).

In my opinion, there seems to be a fair amount British sleeper comedies that  could fit the bill for this list, such as Pride (I) (2014), Another Year (2010), Last Christmas (2019),  Waking Ned Devine (1998) and others. They seem to have the two main opposing qualities, 1) an endearing, quirky sense of humor and 2) a high rating with a suppressed vote total not indicative of the quality.

I think using indie comedies would have been a better determinant than the vote threshold, as it seems to not favor older movies and puts a greater emphasis on little comedies that went onto to be well-known, like My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002).

Note..
The rule is: rated by 50.000 or less users with a rating above 6/10 ... My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) has 117.000 votes and 6.5 ...
