Somehow this one will probably be tougher then 1990's one, as a lot of my favorites are here: Highlander (1986), The Return of Swamp Thing (1989), The Punisher (1989) and, of course RoboCop and Batman are kinda in the league of their own...

Also the list might as well use:
Ghostbusters (1984)
Starman (1984)
The Wraith (1986)
The Galdiator (1986)

DC, you have 70 polls in the homepage and more than a million votes and you're still hungry for votes and 10K polls?

And what should I say then? Only 4 homepage polls in 2 years, and only two 10K polls from the last two years... I don't think I have enough of a screen to put a sad smiley... what would you do if you were in Elmu's place?

what would you do if you were in Elmu's place?

I would analysis the selections of the Home Page polls of the past 6 months.

I would see that the simple and easy-to-understand-and-answer polls gets picked.

Then I would try to make some of those and see what happen.

Want a sure-shot home page poll? Create the "Most Anticipated Film of Fall 2018" poll, since Peru has already suggested the Summer 2018 poll. Oh, and before that please ask Dan for his permission since he was the founder of the poll series.

And try to make some Award Season polls. Those get picked easily.

Sorry DC but you know  I'm fully aware of the homepage guidelines and you can't look at my suggestions (especially those from the last 12 months) and tell me that the majority of them aren't eligible, the ones that are not eligible weren't even intended for the homepage. I think the problem is elsewhere.

I never was into these "Most Anticipated" and "Awards Season" polls except if I could add a little 'twist' in the subject. And it's not like all your selected polls or any homepage poll for that matter were timely ones. Every kind of poll gets a shot once in a while, so why should I try these polls when I know that normal polls, similar to those that I usually suggest, get picked?

One last thing, with all due respect, I don't think you would analyze any situation if you were in my case. You're someone who got 70 polls in less than 3 years, which means 2 polls a month. I think that if you ever got 3 months without any homepage poll,  you'd be angry and you would think about giving up, let alone 6 months. I'm sure because there was a situation that caused you to say you were gonna leave.

Now, I'm not asking for having the same ratio than you... in fact, I'm not sure one should ask for anything. Or maybe one or two every trimester. I like making polls and find very gratifying when they have the opportunity to bring 15000 votes instead of 300 (we're talking of a serious gap here).

I know there are greater tragedies in lives, I cherish the day where I'll finally get over these petty and childish frustrations...

... but maybe that'd mean I would finally give up the polls once and for all and seriously, I like making polls, I have fun doing this, I would just want to be given the opportunity to spread the fun to more voters. That's all, apparently, it doesn't seem to happen no matter how hard I try. Why? I don't know.

This attitude won't help I know, but staying quiet won't help either. So better speaking than pretending that it's all quiet on the Elmo's front:)

Highlander was my favorite on the list (and my absolute favorite movie for a very long time), but I never considered it a Super Hero film.

One of my (25 so far, to be exact) all-time favorite movies as well. In my humble opinion it has enough of elements to be considered as a superhero movie, it just does it in a very unconventional way. We have a hero and a villain, both with extraordinary powers, which Connor used for good through countless lifetimes (trying his best at not only preserving humanity in himself, but see it in others as well) while Kurgan embraced animalistic and hedonistic approach which excluded responsibility. As with many superhero films eventually "Highlander" in many aspects is about conscience, honor and sacrifices.

Okay, since when did RoboCop, Flash Gordon, Highlander, Howard the Duck, and Popeye become “superheroes”?  And in another survey “The Mask of Zoro” was listed as a superhero movie.  Action movies, yes.  Adventure movies, yes.  But Superhero movies?  NO!

Are we going soon start considering Indiana Jones a “superhero?”  And is the movie “Solo” now a Superhero movie?  If Popeye, Flash Gordon and Zoro are now “Superheroes”, why not Indy and Han?

I always thought of all of these characters in terms of "superhero" genre, because all of them have moral decisions to make through the course of the movie(s) as well as having powers and/or abilities to withstand more then a usual human being (which is what defies that genre in my humble opinion). I also do consider Indiana Jones exceptional enough to be considered superhero. He comes from the same place inspiration-wise as Doc Savage, The Shadow and other pulp era suprheroes.

The difference between Han Solo and Indiana Jones lies in the fact that Han Solo is not that exceptional by the standards of his universe, while Jones has not only peak human condition and excessive expereience, he also regularly ends up in unusual situations and handles himself quite well in such. Zorro always since his first appearane in 1914 was a prototype superhero, a masked vigilante with a moral code and exceptional skills in fencing, something that after a few iterations and inspirations has become Batman.

I have a feeling that only reason why people don't consider some things of "superhero" genre is the same bias and misconception that is slowly fought by horror genre nowadays: a kind of "lower" movie. If it is good enough, then it is not a superhero movie. It's not that I consider most of superhero movies exceptionally good (on the contrary, most of the acclaimed movies of the genre seem pretty much mediocre for me), but it's weird for me how fewer people consider James Bond a superhero, because with this level of stakes and skills he pretty much is one.

Possibly, but exceptional intelligence, strength, skill, or even immortality, are defining traits for many characters in the fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres. You can trace the lineage of such characters all the way to antiquity.

Remember the "Odyssey" (8th century BC?) Wrathful gods, lustful goddesses and witches, Cyclopes, Sirens, various monsters, and an army of suitors who want to usurp the throne of Ithaca. Nobody can really stop Odysseus from reclaiming his wife and throne, and he keeps walking (or swimming) away from all the death traps which kill his crew. And the text implies that most of his fellow veterans of the Trojan War are already dead by this point. He is depicted as more intelligent, more skilled, and far more persistent than anyone else.

**Muse make the man thy theme, for shrewdness famed
*And genius versatile, who far and wide
*A Wand’rer, after Ilium overthrown,
*Discover’d various cities, and the mind
*And manners learn’d of men, in lands remote.
*He num’rous woes on Ocean toss’d, endured,
*Anxious to save himself, and to conduct
*His followers to their home"

"Zorro always since his first appearane in 1914 was a prototype superhero, a masked vigilante with a moral code and exceptional skills in fencing, something that after a few iterations and inspirations has become Batman."

1919, not 1914. The centennial of the character is in 2019. Besides the sword, he is equipped with a bullwhip, exceptional agility and acrobatic skills, a "fox-like and sly mind", and all the wealth of the de la Vega family.

Zorro also has a secret identity which protects him from investigations from his enemies. "Like Sir Percy in '[The Scarlet Pimpernel'', Don Diego avoids suspicion by playing the role of an effete dandy who wears lace, writes poetry, and shuns violence."

He is something of a copy of the Scarlet Pimpernel. "The title is the ''nom de guerre'' of its hero and protagonist, a chivalrous Englishman who rescues aristocrats before they are sent to the guillotine. Sir Percy Blakeney leads a double life: apparently nothing more than a wealthy fop, but in reality a formidable swordsman and a quick-thinking escape artist. The band of gentlemen who assist him are the only ones who know of his secret identity. He is known by his symbol, a simple flower, the scarlet pimpernel (''Anagallis arvensis'').|

"I have a feeling that only reason why people don't consider some things of "superhero" genre is the same bias and misconception that is slowly fought by horror
genre nowadays: a kind of "lower" movie."

Personally, I have a bias against drama films. Cookie-cutter films with stock characters and situations. Horror films often have far more inventive scripts and better acting.

"but it's weird for me how fewer people consider James Bond a superhero, because with this level of stakes and skills he pretty much is one. "

I am a Bond fan, but there is a key difference here. Ian Fleming did not conceive of him as a hero, but as a professional assassin, a tool in the hands the secret service.

Fleming describes Bond like this: "It was part of his profession to kill people. He had never liked doing it and when he had to kill he did it as well as he knew how and forgot about it. As a secret agent who held the rare double-O prefix—the licence to kill in the Secret Service—it was his duty to be as cool about death as a surgeon. If it happened, it happened. Regret was unprofessional—worse, it was a death-watch beetle in the soul."

As for Bond's personal appearance: "certainly good-looking ... Rather like Hoagy Carmichael in a way. That black hair falling down over the right eyebrow. Much the same bones. But there was something a bit cruel in the mouth, and the eyes were cold"

DC,

Sounds good --- glad you like the series. It's been a popular one for me.

I should note that Avengers: Infinity War is not in the Top 10 for the '2010s' poll only because I added it to the mix once it released, but it probably would have been #1 or #2 if it was added when the poll was first published.
