Live Poll: Scenes on the Seine

The 2024 Olympic Games are taking place in Paris, who becomes the second city in the world to celebrate the event for the third time in history.
Paris goal was to focus on sustainability, and instead of building new an expensive stadiums, they used existing venues and Parisian landmarks to host the sporting events.

Of special interest was the project to use the Seine river for the Marathon Swimming and the Triathlon events, as well as for the opening ceremony. All these required an investment of 1.4 billion dollars to clean the river to make its waters safe for the athletes. and leaving a clean river as a legacy so people can legally swim in tis waters for the first time since 1923.

The Seine will be an icon of the Olympics, and it is an icon of Paris, as such, its waters and its world heritage banks have been featured in several films set in Paris.

Which of these movies featuring the Seine is your favorite?

@urbanemovies Thanks, I added those I could find information about.

I saw Eiffel and there was a scene where his lover jumps into the Seine, but there doesn't seem to be images available.

@Pencho15,

Zoé and her cat, Dino are pursued by Victor atop Notre-Dame cathedral overlooking the Seine river in a climatic chase scene.

FYC, there is an alternate rooftop fight scene overlooking the Seine river between cat burgler, Nico and a member of Victor's gang too.

@Pencho15, The river she threw herself into in her youth was a different river, it was the Garonne, not the Seine river. There seems to be limited number of movie screencaps and publicity photos for this film. It would be great to have a view of the Seine from atop the Eiffel tower, but I still think the photo of Gustave Eiffel admiring his creation from across the Seine river works.

Bordeaux, 1860 – while building an iron bridge over the treacherous River Garonne, Eiffel dives in to rescue a construction worker who fell into the river. Eiffel demands wood for safety scaffolding from his superiors, but his request is turned down. Eiffel goes to Bourgès, a wealthy local businessman, to ask for the wood. Eiffel meets Adrienne, Bourgès’ headstrong daughter. Impressed by having secretly witnessed Eiffel’s heroism on the bridge, she speaks up in defence of his request for the wood and secures it for him. Adrienne invites Eiffel to her birthday party. At the party he is awkward, but she finds his aloofness attractive. He kisses her, then storms off, embarrassed. She shows up later at his office, saying she’s attracted to him. Eiffel doesn’t believe her and sends her away, so she throws herself into the river, to spite him. He rescues her and they make love and begin a passionate affair.

FYC, Sheikh Raman's yacht cruises the Seine at night, while holding Bryan Mill's daughter, Kim captive.

Also, in James Bond's A View to Kill (1985), French detective Achille Aubergine is assassinated by May Day during a meeting with Bond atop the Eiffel tower. Zorin's bodyguard, May Day escapes capture by jumping from the top of Eiffel tower and deploying a steerable parachute. Bond then pursues her in a high-speed chase through Paris by comandeering a Parisian taxi until she lands atop a party barge cruising down the Siene river.

FYC, Mr. Oscar's first “appointment” for the day is transforming himself with prosthetics from a "captain of industry" into an "old beggar woman" who panhandles for change on a bridge over the river Seine.

FYI, There are a number of Seine river scenes in this movie. Although his first appointment is pretty memorable, since it gets the plot going and piques the viewer interest in Holy Motors (2012).

Ponton and Clouseau Discuss the Case on a Seine River Walking Bridge

FYI, Film director Levy made excellent use of his carefully selected locations – a walking bridge across the Seine served as a venue for a conversation between Ponton and Clouseau and also displayed a postcard panorama of Paris. Similarly, the cathedral of Notre Dame loomed in the background of a stunt off another bridge.

Perhaps the most breathtaking and singular view for the cast and crew came while photographing a pivotal nighttime scene in which Clouseau chases the villain around a Paris rooftop. The production set up on the roof of the Museé Galleria, gingerly moving across its scalloped, sloping face but often pausing to admire its neighbor across the river — the magnificent Eiffel Tower.

FYI, my notes were intended as background information to use to compose each answers caption. I think these versions I posted below are more detailed with a clearer Paris & Seine river connection, if you intend to use them for each answer's caption.

Assassin May Day jumps from atop Paris' Eiffel Tower deploying a steerable parachute and lands atop a party barge cruising the Seine near the Pont Alexandre III bridge, eluding capture by 007.

For his first “appointment” of the day, Mr. Oscar transforms himself with cosmetic prosthetics from a "captain of industry" into an "old beggar woman" and panhandles for change in Paris on the Seine river's Pont Alexandre III bridge.

Charles Lindbergh arrives in Paris in his plane, The Spirit of St. Louis near the end of his historic transatlantic nonstop solo flight from New York City to Paris, France and circles the Eiffel Tower located on the banks of the Seine river.

Detectives Clouseau and Ponton discuss the case as they cross the Seine river on Paris' Pont des Arts walking bridge.

Sam's mercenary team engages in a skirmish under the Seine river's Pont Alexandre III bridge when their Paris weapons deal goes sideways.
