Live Poll: Most unexpected sequel

Sometimes the decisions of the production companies are odd. For exemple, why make a sequel to Highlander while the whole point of the original movie was "There can be only one"? Who had the idea to make a prequel to Cruel Intentions while it was a transposition from the 18th century to the 90s of Choderlos de Laclos's Dangerous Liaisons? Why make a sequel to Dumb and Dumber without Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels and the Farrelly brothers?

Anyway, in this list of unlikely sequels, which one is for you the most unexpected? Not the best or the worst, just the most... unexpected.

great idea for a poll pictoris...

in this day and age...remakes and reboots and complete re-imaginings are nothing new or unexpected...

that's why my vote will go to 'the sting II'...i remember when that came out and it was not a time in which sequels were really even thought about...(years before empire strikes back slowly started making sequels a given...also years before vhs and dvd so the only way to see a movie was by going to the movie theatre, and since there were no multiplexes back then either, you only had the one choice to see)...

and to take such a great film with paul newman and robert redford and come back with mac davis and jackie gleason...those few of us that actually went to the theatre to see it were the only ones who truly got stung...

nice poll...

Welcome back, Pictoris.

Please edit the title to: Most Unexpected Sequel

I noticed some typos:
For example, why make a sequel to Highlander (1986) while...

Anyway, from this list of unlikely sequels, which one is for you the most unexpected?

Wait there's a sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds? When did this happen? 1992 I guess...

1994, to be exact. I remember catching this movie on television and thinking "I wonder who this Alan Smithee is and how he ended up making a Hitchcock sequel...". Imagine my surprise.

Ah yes good old Alan Smithee! I wonder if it tops the masterpiece that is Birdemic: Shock and Terror.

James The Movie Guy oh, it's actually rather watchable with many memorable scenes. Nowhere near Birdemic!

Hi Peter,
there is no backlink to the discussion in the Poll. And I don't understand the open brackets. What does this mean? May you give me advice.

I think it's because the title links are broken. Hopefully Pictoris can fix it so the poll can be re-pushed.

Pictoris,

Thank you for correcting the links. The poll has been re-pushed:
https://www.imdb.com/poll/santDlJkVPk/

Because you added a link to the poll in your list, the link now appears in the poll, which is rather unnecessary. Please remove the link from your list, so the poll can be updated once again.
