Thanks for your votes Donna, just saw Sicario (2015) for the first time and what an excellent thriller it was. Hopefully the sequel brings more of the same energy.

Kyle,

My vote: Christopher Robin (2018)

By the way, this search is likely to change between now and June 18th:
June 18, 2018 to September 16, 2018

Totally, I just made a preliminary list now but expected the above statement as you put it; there will likely be new ones coming in and out, so I'll try to stick on this list in the next few weeks to account for that.

Happytime murders looks really interesting... can't remember the last time there was a hit puppet film! Should be fun.

The Muppets (2011) did rather well at the box office 7 years ago...

Nikolay,

Very true.. though I expect this film to take a much darker vibe with the whole puppet gimmick.. something more along the lines of Team America: World Police (2004) than The Muppets. But I'm not really sure what this film's gonna go for, so who knows!

I really dig tongue-in-cheek noir vibes of the promotional materials.

Looks like Yellowstone [link=tt4236770] is a tv series and probably shouldn't be on the list for summer movies.

This also seems to be (at least to my shady memory) that a documentary as listed on one of these anticipated seasonal lists.  Really grateful for that (though I have no interest in the Whitney doc).

Just saw The Darkest Minds (2018) trailer yesterday and hate Fox even more.  They pushed back The New Mutants and I bet this possible Razziesque nonsense which is a shoddy scifi movie with teenage mutants being treated badly as well.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) or The Happytime Murders (2018) will get my vote.

Thanks Tsar, I've replaced the two you mentioned above with 2 new ones though I expect the list options to change several times between now and the summer as Dan mentioned above. Appreciate these updates though... good stuff.

Peru,

Not a single Indian film???

Here are two important suggestions, please add:

Sanju - USA Release 29 June 2018

Gold - USA Release 17 August 2018

Are you sure these movies will have a theatrical release in the U.S. within the given dates?

That's a good point, right now they've merely listed their Indian release dates. DC, can you confirm this before I commit to using them?

Google is not a very reliable source if the information isn't backed up by another site.

IMDb does list the U.S. date for 'Sanju', I'm just not convinced it's a theatrical release.

'Gold' does not have a U.S. release date, and it is fairly low in the IMDb popularity stats.

Peter, do you suggest I add your below suggestions instead of DC's? I admit as well that they rank fairly low on the popularity spectrum compared to some of these other films..

These polls generally make it in the homepage so in the hypothesis of 10.000 votes and probably more, having Indian movies makes sense and they might rank higher than US films.

Peru,

Please keep those 2 films in your list.

Those 2 Indian films and their subjects are popular than many other Hollywood films in your list.

Kyle,

I assume you want to list the most popular movies which will be theatrically released in the U.S. like in previous versions of this poll.

You can probably keep Sanju.

Let's compare:

Gold, Moviemeter rank 16,808, no confirmed U.S. release

BlacKkKlansman, Moviemeter rank 1,177, U.S. release 10 August

BlacKkKlansman

Ooh, some good ones here (including a feature film from Dan Fogelman; I'm obsessed with This is Us so that film's definitely on the radar).

I do want to add some of these Pete, I'm making room for them now by weening out the films labelled on the site as 'least popular'.

Hey Dan,

I think I will go with the June 21, 2018 to September 23, 2018 date range for this one.. I think I understand what you've done above - but are there any films currently listed among the 35 that have US release outside the date above date range?

I have tried to go through most of them again and they seem to check out. Do let me know if I'm missing something but the current ones look good on my end!

Can you please edit the GS post to reflect this change in date range?

Kyle,

I updated your original post to reflect this date range:
June 21, 2018 to September 23, 2018

What I posted confirms that the films in your poll debut in the US in that date range.

As I mentioned before, debuts dates tend to be rather volatile. It's entirely possible that once this poll goes live, that the debut date for at least one of the films will change to be outside of the specified date range.

May I suggest one small edit to the intro? Instead of "according to" the Northern Hemisphere, I was going to suggest "in," because it's not actually "according to" that hemisphere, lol, but then I realize that edit makes the sentence seem like it's saying seeing films in the northern hemisphere, lol, (English, ugh) so I suggest something like this:
Summer (in the northern hemisphere) is just around the corner and, with the season, comes a lot of movies. Which film are you most looking forward to seeing during the summer of 2018...

'Good poll, Kyle. :)

Right now, I'm only anticipating to see movies from AFI's lists or the remaining Top 250 movies I need to watch (and review) to get a Top 250 badge... I'm astonished myself by how uninterested I am by any film released in the next months... only waiting for The Irishman.

Same here pretty much... I have 8 more films on the 2015 badge to watch/rate BUT the other recent badge years are pretty populated with Hindi films so we'll see about the 2016/17 badges thereafter.

Pretty excited for I2 tbh.. it's been 14 years of anticipation and the first one was "incredible" so here's to hoping the sequel can build on its predecessors superiority.
