List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls022126859/

Interesting idea.

I think "deformed" is not really the word to use here.

Maybe:
- improved quotes
- edited quotes
- revised quotes

I think I like revised best. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

Thanks Jen,
I had a doubt about "deformed" too.
Those are clearly not "improved"
"edited" Yes, but...
So I will go with "revised"  :D

Can I use "Altered" instead of revised? :/

Great idea for a poll!

James Rolfe did a great video on that subject, by the way.

I made a  few changes to the list,(with 2 new lines)
*I will look for you, I will find you, and I will marry you.
(Best way to propose via phone)
-Taken 2008
*You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Will you marry me?' Well, will ya punk?
(Clint Eastwood really proposed to Andrew Robinson using this line.)
 -Dirty Harry 1971
Can someone with admin rights update the post with changes? :)

Sorry, my bad - the Dark Knight one should be "why so single" (why so serious)

And I think a better way to use "show me the ring" - your response when proposed to without ring

Out of the others I put forth that you haven't used, these are my favorites:

Magic Mirror on the wall, will you/who will marry me next Fall? - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Go ahead, make my wedding day! - Dirty Harry
The greatest trick I'll ever pull is convincing you to marry me. - The Usual Suspects
I'm single as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore! - Network

Corrected to "why so single"I really liked go ahead and make my wedding day also. So I'm gonna add it to "replies" poll since there is a quote from dirty harry here already. :)

It's from Revenge of the Sith. Perhaps it could be:
"Marry me you must, my love" or "This ring you must have, my love"

Great poll idea(s), by the way. :)

Yes. "must" suits better. :)

But are you sure it's from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)? I couldn't find it on the quotes page

No, sorry, it's from The Empire Strikes Back. At least, I think so; I don't remember exactly when he says it, but it has to be sometime during Luke's training.

I just googled it and this poll says it's from empire.

P.s Changed it and added as your suggestion. :D

Actually, for that quote, Vibhor used an image from Revenge of the Sith, and when I googled the quote I found some results which suggested it was from Revenge, and some which said Empire; that's why I was confused. I'm fairly certain it was from Empire though, but maybe someone else will know for sure.

Jessica,It looks like this one is a misquote.
I asked a friend of mine and this one was the closest to that line from empire.

I took that legendary quote from Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and change it into "I am your future husband. Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"
If you had any other Yoda quotes in mind let me know. :)

Ah, that explains why there wasn't any clear evidence. Yoda talks a lot about patience in Empire, but I couldn't recall that exact quote.

That Vader quote is excellent! :)

Don’t you want to take a leap of faith and marry with me? Or become an old woman, filled with regret, waiting to die alone!Inception

or

As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to propose you. - Goodfellas

This is a good poll, nice idea, very creative :)

From your options, i identify with the "Network" line. kkkk

The Shining one doesn't really work. Or maybe I need it explained because I don't get it.

Scarface could "be yelled at the top of your lungs, with the spittle flying out of your mouth."

Snow White - I think it could be better as "Magic Mirror on the wall, who will marry me next Fall? (Use this if you have absolutely no romantic prospects - the mirror will do the rest)"

And Goodfellas would be better more like the original quote - "As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a bridegroom."

534 Messages

 •

18.1K Points

Jen,
I'm not with you on Goodfellas quote and snow white one.
"always wanted to be a bridegroom" doesn't really works because that doesn't define which person you're marrying into.
And I agree, Snow White one rhymes better that way but it will not be a proposal line anymore..I added Shining one just for fun and it doesn't make any sense to me neither. :D.
I don't think someone will ever use these lines on real life occasions, so don't put so much thought into it. ;)

Bridgegroom is another word for groom - I suggested it because it is two words and works for having the same syllables at the original line.

Yes, but it can't be used with "your" or something :-\
