Visually stunning and with a powerful lead actress, it is a movie that shows three stories in one. The descent of a dancer into madness, the rivalry in a ballett for the main role and the story of Swan Lake.
2.- The Dark Knight (2008)
3.- Children of Men (2006)
4.- Jurassic Park (1993)
5.- Toy Story 3 (2010)
6.- Das Leben der Anderen (2006)
7.- El secreto de sus ojos (2009)
8.- Whiplash (2014)
9.- Dangerous Liaisons (1988)
10.- The Mission (1986)

1. Princess Mononoke (1997)
2. Spirited Away (2001)
3. Ghost in the Shell (1995)
4. Children of Men (2006)
5. Sideways (2004)
6. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
7. Howl's Moving Castle (2004)
8. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
9. Chinatown (1974)
10. Sicario (2015)
Hayao Miyazaki's visually striking masterwork is even more powerful in this environmental and political climate. Civilization and nature at war with each other.

hey breu....
here’s is a list for the 70’s and beyond...(excluding documentaries and tv movies)...
1...chinese coffee (2000)
2...all the president’s men (1976)
3...the commitments (1991)
4...the paper (1994)
5...the rocky horror picture show (1975)
6...network (1976)
7...the red violin (1998)
8...short cuts (1993)
9...bird (1988)
10...zelig (1983)
honorable mentions from the 70’s...
all that jazz (1979)...the conversation (1974)...papillon (1973)
dog day afternoon (1975)...the china syndrome (1979)
and justice for all (1979)...chinatown (1974)...capricorn one (1978)
equus (1977)...the taking of pelham one two three (1974)
phantom of the paradise (1974)...and so many more...
quote... ”Chinese Coffee” stars Jerry Orbach and Al Pacino and features writing that is crisp, raw, and real... The emotions are endless as Pacino’s character writes a new novel, while Orbach’s character struggles on with his photography... Jealousy and desire fill the screen with two actors who portray these characters with honesty and trust... The movie is filmed in a low-rent style, perfect for an arthouse showing, as well as bringing their New York into a truthful existence...peace always...

2 - Das Boot
3 - Apocalypse Now
4 - The Godfather (I consider 1 & 2 a single film, they complement each other)
5 - Reservoir Dogs
6 - Alien
7 - Fight Club
8 - Evil Dead
9 - Unforgiven
10 - Blade Runner
titles I had to leave out, but feel that I must mention anyway:
Amadeus
Smoke
JFK
The Sting
Machan
Come And See
Goodfellas
Silence Of The Lambs
Schindler's List
Jeremiah Johnson
Rocky
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Letter To America
Pulp Fiction
Spirited Away
Catch 22 (this is from 1970, so perhaps belongs to the other list)
Apartment Zero
The Commitments
Kelly's Heroes
Birdman
The Killing of A Chinese Bookie
The Blues Brothers
The Conversation
Jaws
Before The Rain
Do The Right Thing
Terminator 2
Day Of The Dead (1985)
Papillon
The French Connection
Raiders of The Lost Ark
The Thief
Raising Arizona
These are also among my favorite films, but the ones I listed are of course better. (I think I just wrote down pretty much all of my post-1970 favorites)
I consider Das Boot as the best film ever made, but I put it at number two and put my favorite at the no.1 spot. I guess that was the point of this poll, wasn't it, to name our favorite movies as opposed to best movies?
The reason I chose Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels as my favorite film is very simple: it's the most fun I ever had watching a film. It has perfect photography, perfect editing (never, ever slowing down or going so fast that you miss the story) looks extremely slick, has perhaps the best and most quotable dialogue I heard in a comedy, Guy Ritchie used music as well as Tarantino, perhaps even better, almost like a character in the film. And although the plot is extremely intricate, you have no trouble following it. At least I didn't.
(I didn't include Shawshank. I rated it 10 on imdb and wrote a short, praising review, but like I said on my review, I consider it a very beautiful film, but not a truly great film. But I admit I must have watched it 40 times, and know almost all the lines by heart)

About Into the Wild:
It has a fascinating story that caught me from the beginning and changed my way of seeing life, the last phrase that Christopher writes in his wood is one of the quotes that has most marked my life, I learned to appreciate small pleasures of life, the kindness of people and it's still an incredibly directed and interpretated movie.
