Live Poll: IMDb Poll Board Favorite Love Songs

Members of the IMDb Poll Board, tell me what your favorite love song is!  I will later compile a list of your picks and that can be made into a poll.  Only one pick to a person, please.  If more than one of you has the same pick, I will simply credit all of you to that song.  Choose anything of any genre of any era!  Thanks!

I'm still deciding between 'When You Love a Woman' or 'Faithfully' from Journey.

Can't take my eyes off you - Valli and the Four Seasons

Thanks!  Will add your suggestion, but I'm having trouble adding the band/artist.  The only options I have to add are Frankie Valli or 'The Four Seasons.'  Which would be more correct?

The Four Seasons don't have a cover image, so it's blank.  Would you like to see if you can add an cover pic for them?  Or should I put Frankie Valli?  It's your suggestion, I want it to look right - what do you want to do?  :)

My parents once bought a CD from an unknown little group that was performing on the street. They're called Ann'Sanat, and their versions of classic ballads are among my favorite songs. I nominate The Wind that Shakes the Barley, originally written by Robert Dwyer Joyce in 1861 (I can't access the video from my country but it should work for most users):

Oh my, that's beautiful.  I love that kind of music.  Sometimes the little unknown bands are the gems.  I would love to add this, but I must ask if this is a love song, because that's what the poll is.  Reguardless, it's lovely and I will listen more.  :)  I like little groups like that.  My favorite popular band is Journey, but other than that most of my faves are Mozart Heroes, Vitamin String Quartet, and Steve 'n' Seagulls, etc, lol!

I like 80's music... various artists have a couple great songs.  ;)

It's a sad and dark love song with a strong political element, I think. A young man is about to make the hard decision to leave the love of his life to join the Irish rebels. All of a sudden, she is struck by a bullet (shot by a British soldier probably?). Thirst for revenge makes the man want to fight even more. Full of sorrow, he keeps visiting his love's grave.

Journey is great, gotta check out the other bands :)

Wow, that's a deep song!  :)  I think it qualifies.

Yes, Journey is awesome and the others are, too!

Already answered by the time you wrote this, haha.

What Wikipedia has to say about the barley reference makes the song even deeper.

Will look at Wiki... the group has no IMDb page, but that's okay because it's an image poll.  I suppose I could add a picture of barley?  What do you think?

Yes, or add a picture from The Wind that Shakes the Barley, a movie whose title is based on the ballad.

It's really a shame that the group is so unknown. Such a soulful violin.

Okay, great!

Yes yes yes!  These 'little' groups should get more attention.  As I said, Journey and a couple other 80's artists are the only big bands I like.  And except for them, most famous bands kinda... stink???  No offense, but the new ones especially are all electronic noise and no writing or talent.  But I could rant for years, lol!  Don't get me started!  :D

Read Wikipedia; interesting.  ;)  You're right, it does make the song more meaningful.

Oh, geez, that's a tough one. 'Maybe "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones, as performed by the Stones or The Sundays, or "Perfect Circle" by R.E.M., or "California Stars" by Wilco, but actually my favorite might be "This is a Rebel Song" by Sinead O'Connor. I love those songs and I know that there are more that I'm just not remembering right now, lol.

Oh wow, and "Jezebel" by Natalie Merchant and "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. But I've been trying to be less indecisive lately so I'll say Sinead O'Connor's "This is a Rebel Song" or the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses." I know that's not making a decision, but it's progress, lol. Feel free to choose one of those two.

Something to start as I know it from a longer time. Dreams will be on the waiting list in case two are allowed in the future. Or if someone else wants it perfect to allow it into the list.

"Falling" by LeBlanc & Carr - one hit wonder from the 70's.  It was a hard choice because there are several love songs I like.  I don't see an IMDb page for either Lenny LeBlanc or Pete Carr, the two musicians that comprise this act, or for their band.  But, if you do an image search for them on Google, there are several pictures of them together.

Here is the YouTube link to the song.
Excellent thread, love it.  Thanks!

Now - if you don't want the hassle of finding and adding images for them, then a close 2nd is "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston.  Feel free to use that one instead if you want to make your job easier.  I would be just as happy as having that one instead...lol

LeBlanc and Carr don't have any IMDb pics, but I was able to get the poster for a movie called 'Falling', lol!  It shows a guy with his head on a girl's shoulder, so I guess that makes it look right for the love genre.  :)  Glad you like the thread and thanks!
