Live Poll: Hidden Gems From French Speaking Cinema

It's a fact that popularity doesn't define the quality of a movie. There are movies that are big hits in their country but don't make that impact when they cross borders.
This list is composed of some of the best hidden gems of French language chosen by the users of the IMDb Poll Board.

Which one do you consider the best?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls041617314/
Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/K3xbh0yNhJ4/

One detail:
The movies need to have less than 10,000 votes on IMDb and main language of the film need to be french.
Maximum 5 suggestions for each user.

Interesting poll.  Suggestion (if it qualifies): Beauty and the Beast (2014).  The one with Lea what's-her-name.  :)

I've seen a number of movies that are hidden, but I'm not sure if they are gems.

This is a subjective poll but i understand for "hidden gems" movies with good reviews but not well know by the audience.
To limit your options i will say movies with more than 6.5 on rating and less than 10 000 votes on Imdb.

Patrick, three of your options attended the detail of:
The movies need to have less than 10,000 votes on Imdb and main language of the film need to be french.
So i added only that three, if you want to suggest another two movies to full your limit, you can do.

Thanks for your contribution :)

The Two of Us (1967) - this movie inspires "Aww!"s without cheap effects
Lucky Luke: Daisy Town (1971) - witty animated Western comedy
So long, Stooge (1983) - some kind of Neo(n)-Melville
In the Beginning (2009) - Hollywood would make a stupid comedy out of the premise, but this drama made me relate to the main character
The Measure of a Man (2015) - not the most entertaining movie, but one of the most important; a movie about dignity

Great idea by the way, and I hope we'll see this format applied to other countries or regions as well.

All added. From your options i've saw The Measure of a Man (2015) and yeah i agree it's not at all entertaining much because the concept of the movie doesn't focus on that element. The movie it's a message to our values.

I hope so too, European Cinema is stuffed of good movies, so if this run well maybe i can do a part to another region.

Thanks for your contribution ;)

Don't know where this poll is further going, but I have nine more options to suggest if you feel the list is not complete.
Cheers

FYC:

Camille Claudel  (French language; approx. 5,000 votes)

(I don't know if this meets your inclusion criteria:  L'ondée -- It's a French film but it's silent so the French language isn't spoken. It's very "hidden:" it has 90 votes.)

I added your first option. The other is a short film so... I think that doesn't fit well here.

I will consider doing a short film suggestion one day. I want to put every cinematic content on his own league.

Thanks for your contribution ;)

I love your French film polls! This is a particularly good idea. I love when polls also act as resources, like this one does: people can find such great films this way.

I'm not sure if it's a mistake or intentional but the first sentence of the intro. is repeated. I think it's stronger if it's just stated once. I'd also suggest a few minor edits in the other sentence: they're below in bold just to make them easier to see.

It's a fact that popularity doesn't define the quality of a movie. It is a fact that popularity does not define the quality of a movie. There are movies that are big hits in their country but don't make that impact when they cross borders.

SeventhAr7,

In addition to what Ruby wrote, please change the capitalization of the poll title from:
Hidden Gems from French speaking Cinema

To:

I'm glad that you appreciate the idea Rubyfruit76... That's the idea that I want to explore with this poll, kind of a research and suggestion content.

And I've corrected the text. Thanks Ruby and Dan.

SeventhAr7,

Thank you for making the changes that Ruby and I recommended. I've updated the title of this thread and the first post accordingly.

One further correct, please change in your list:
Imdb Poll Board.

To:
IMDb Poll Board.
