They are about ghosts and there's room in the list.

I think, most are not ghost storries. So I voted for 'The Fog' (1980). :D

I'm afraid I fail to see why the movies are not ghost stories.

That's ok. :) Maybe i was a little harsh. ;) That's my german blood. ;))

"The Shining" is more about Telepathy, so the boy maybe just sees pictures, that some unknown evil injects to his perception of reality, so it does to his father. The dead girls and the rotten woman maybe an input by some evil source by telepathy.

"Paranormal Activity" is more about unknown powers. There isn't a ghost, but a demon. But it's not sure, but it's sure Paranormal.

I'm not sure, but wasn't "Beetlejuice" more like a zombie? I should watch it again, last time was about 20 years ago. I did not associate it with a Ghost.

"Mama" I did also not associate with a ghost story. Seemed to be more like Mystery.

"The Haunting" is not really clear if it was a paranormal phenomen that made earlier inhabitants insane, or if there are really ghosts. The protagonists just dealed with the suppotions that the fear came from ghosts. But it was not clear if it was the house or real ghosts. But this was an early movie, dealing with paranormal phenomens.

When I rethink at the other movies of the list - yeah. That are real ghost movies, but I had to think closer why. :D

Well, the poll runs. No need to change that. ;)
Maybe others see more ghost in the 5 storys above.
Enjoy it. I voted for "The Fog". I think this is a really good, atmospheric Ghost story. And it's a classic ghost storry. :)

It's OK Breumaster ;)

As there are different types of ghosts, different ways of representing them, sometimes even they are totally invisible, sometimes it's only unexplained phenomenons...everyone have his own interpretation.

But, for "The Shining", for many, it's about ghosts. Kubrick himself in an interview talks about "Grady, the ghost of the former caretaker (...)".
For "Bettlejuice", it's the story of two ghosts, a young, recently deceased couple trying to scare the new owners of their home. As they do not succeed, they call for help from another ghost named Betelgeuse.
Regarding "Mama", which I have not seen yet, checking the plot summary, before adding it to the list, it looks like it's a ghost story. Following this link it appears to be a ghost too: http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Mama_(Mama)

Anyway like you rightly said "maybe others see more ghost in the stories" and each one will vote according to that.

Well, I guess that's because many american Filmmakers often don't separate between ghost-, paranormal-, telepathic, telekinesis and demon-movies. Some of the directors mix up some genres of them - wich I guess - is to create a more threadful scenario. Or maybe they really don't know the difference. "Insidous", which is one of my favorites does it like that. It mixes up a demon-story with a ghost-story and a paranormal twilightworld. So I think many people can't make a difference between the single subjects. But I also think this is about different cultures we live in. Specially the older people in europe know to seperate the things one from the other. I guess meanwhile the youth in Europe can't separate the subjects by now, too. It all merges till there is one name for all. ;)

This movie looks interesting.
I haven't seen it yet but it's the kind of movie I like to watch.
Anyway it fit to the list's theme, but unfortunately this last is full (35 choices).

Creating the list, I had found a lot of ghost movies.
But, there were many titles that I had to put aside because of the rating, the few votes, etc.
That said, I completely forgot about Spielberg's "Always".
But as the limit is reached, it will be for "Favorite Ghost Story Movie Part 2" ;)
