You left off one of his best performances from Street Smart Fast Black the pimp from hell. It was the first time I saw him in a movie and his performance left an indelible impression that's remains still today 30 years after the movie was released. If you haven't seen it, I recommend that you do. ALL around, he's great talented who never disappoints. The movie can suck, but he's always amazing.

Thank you for your feedback, Eileen. During his 46-year career, Morgan Freeman played in so many movies that it was impossible to include all of them in one poll. I have never seen Street Smart (1987), but now I'm definitely interested to watch it. So, thanks again for the tip!

Morgan and Kathy Baker made the movie work. It was Christopher Reeves starring vehicle. I wasn't impressed by his performance though. A cautionary tale about a desperate reporter on the verge of getting fired. He makes up a story about a pimp and his ladies. Both the police and the pimp believe its about Fast Black and either is happy. I had goosebumps on my arm, it was so compelling I thought he was a real pimp. I think everyone who was in the theater did,  It was weird, when the credits start rolling people get up to leave, but that night everyone stayed seated waiting to see his name. He got a standing ovation in the theater that evening  I'm not sure I would have seen the next film he did if I hadn't watch this performance first, but it made me a fan of his for life. He's the best living character actor around.

I liked him as Fast Black in Street Smart. And Easy Reader in the Electric Company. And the President in Deep Impact.

Ned Logan

This reminds me of an idea that I wanted to do for a long time:

Samuel L. Jackson roles

and

Samuel L. Jackson quotes

But I think I've seen them before.  I can't find polls.  Have they been done?

I liked him in '10 items or less', where he is playing himself. But I understand if you don't add that one. Otherwise I think Se7en or Shawshank.
