Thank you Ed for suggesting. :)
It's nice you instantly took notice of this suggestion.
The thing is: Face-Offs are limited to 5 suggestions.
(That I allready made up)

There is a clue why I suggested these. First I wanted to take mediocre examples to mix it a little and for not taking always the same examples. But the I thought that all options should have the most high rated representative to a) reach more people and b) to give them the best chances. So I would change the list only for examples that seem more popular in a high quality way to me. I think these are elitist examples that mostly everybody knows.

Breu,

I think Crime is more connected to Thriller but it's just my point of view, i'm not necessarily right.

Thank you for this suggestion, SeventhAr7. :D

I have a problem with the word 'Thriller'. It sounds like all and nothing.
Thriller can be action, crime, suspense, historical, SciFi. For me it looks
like a complete artificial word for all they can't explain further. It sounds
amazing like suspense, action, crime, it sounds special, but when I look to ...

action - I know it's loud and fast
romance - I know it's about any kind of love
scifi - I know it's a fiction of things attached to scientiffical background
comedy - I know it should bring me to laughter
crime - I know there are bad guys and maybe good guys to fight each other
musical - I know I will face a lot of singing attached to a kind of story
drama - I know it's about human or animal beings and livings stories
superheroes - I know it's about heros with special abilities

now thriller:
I Know, it stands on many film covers I saw - maybe 1/4 of them all and it says nothing to me. It never said anything exact to me.

I hope I could explain my motivations exact enough. But I also know with new knowledge a mind setting can be changed. Maybe it's because I don't live in the U.S. - never did. And I never had the exact definition of what a 'thriller' is. No one could tell me exactly. So my first pictures that run before my eyes when I hear the word 'Thriller' is Michael Jackson dancing with some zombies. ;D

But I'm always ready to learn. So you can change my mind, fellow.

Grettings. :)

With that definition, 'Groundhog Day' would be a thriller, too.

Sorry for that above. I didn't mean 1/4 of the covers. It's more like 1/4 of the movies in the movie guides. Schwarzenegger's 'Raw Deal' is tagged as thriller on IMDb, too.

Same deal with 'Cobra' with Stallone. Was that really well written and directed?

1) Literature is not a genre

2) Schindler's List is not tagged as "War", Inglorious Basterds, and Saving Private Ryan at the most voted (War, Drama).

3) Die Hard is not tagged as "Crime", The Dark Knight and Léon and the most voted (Action, Crime)
