I have no objection against any of these options but most of them concern actors who haven't played a wide range of memorable characters so it's only fair that they're remembered for the most iconic part. Hopkins is an exception because he did play many great roles but Lecter is such a larger-than-life character he instantly overshadows the others.

Well, yeah that's the idea, for now on. They will be freed from this list after they broke the curse and find another memorable role.

ACT_1, yes, I know all about the "gimp". I don't know whether you're doing it by accident or not, but please quit spoiling all these movies. People who have never seen them before are supposed to be shocked by the scenes, especially in the case of movies that have no part of them set in penitentiary.

Bruce Campbell could work (Ash Williams- Evil Dead film series), if its acceptable that his other subjectively 'memorable' role is a main character on the TV show Burn Notice rather than another movie.  Playing Elvis on Bubba Ho-Tep might pass for memorable as well, depending on who you ask.

Also, I personally don't think Johnny Depp should be on the list. Edward Scissorhands is just as iconic as Jack Sparrow, if not more.

Hi, groovyvic. Well, it's a difficult list, since some of the people on it are memorable for a number of roles, but seemingly the list is not intended to be limited to including actors who have sort of been typecast.

This list in inherently flawed. These may be the actors' iconic roles, but so many of them are NOT recognized for that one role. I mean, DiCaprio? Hopkins?
