Live Poll: A Time of Remakes

The 1950's and 60's were something of a "golden age" of B-movies - even the biggest theatrical ventures were full of claymation and sock puppets. But in the generation of revisiting older films, which of these classic "cheesy" horror flicks do you think would be the best modern remake? Just remove the campiness and picture the creatures in CGI. Note: This list excludes "Godzilla" or "King Kong" and any of it's sequels/spin-offs, since those are being brought back currently.

I have a weak spot for werewolves, so I go for "The Curse of the Werewolf".
A small note for Reptilicus, which is the only Danish attempt in that genre! My late husband was one of those fleeing from the monster over the bridge!

Awkwardly, those are the kinds of movies that have been recycled decade after decade since the dawn of VHS and other home playback media systems. The 1970s was like a short grace period, whereby only Food of the Gods really stood out as belonging to the specific subgenre.

I will note, on the other hand, that kaiju or kaiju-like monsters are all but missing from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and the opening decade of our present century, since most of the monster catastrophe movies of those times only involved beasts no more than double the size of a human being.

I think, the one that interests me the most is It Came from Beneath the Sea, not only because of how rarely a giant version of an aquatic creature is brought to the silver screen but also because the title is a complete sentence. Hardly anything is titled in such a hilarious manner anymore.

Yes, I agree. Although these old monster movies were laughable, they were entertaining in a way that is rare now. If they could take the (good) plot of one of these movies and pair it with modern special effects, that would be a perfect movie! :)
