After seeing how bad and predictable "Alien Covenant " was despite Ridley Scott's direction was, STAR WARS with out a doubt.

I'd change the first sentence to something like "Star Wars and Alien are two popular film series set in space that both began in the late '70s and have had a number of sequels and prequels since then." because it's missing a predicate right now :)

That's much better, thank you. :)

this is tough because both had good movies (new hope/empire...alien/alien3...)...and both had really bad ones...(episode 1/2/3 trilogy...aliens...)

if i could just pick and choose the good ones to watch, i would probably go with star wars....

if i had to sit thru all of them...then my choice would be alien...

Good one, Jess. 'Tough choice. I haven't seen all of them but if I take my favorites from each ('Empire Strikes Back' and 'Alien'), I can't decide, and if I take my least favorites... same thing with every combination, so I'd go with my default and vote for whichever gets less votes.

Oh, and apparently the editors now prefer a period after "vs" in the titles: you know, the Chicago-style thing.

Done. Although it's kind of annoying we have to do everything by the Editors' demands, don't you think? ;)

Suzy and Gigi,

Is there any difference between 'Chicago Style' and 'Associate Press Style'?

Hi Dibby. Yes, there are several differences. The IMDb editors seem to use a hybrid: for example, the Chicago Stylebook, as well as the stylebooks for the M.L.A. and A.P.A. (the other two styles, besides Chicago, that are used in academe, depending on the field, in many English speaking countries, though certainly not all) call for italics for both movie titles and TV series (and "double" quotation marks for titles of episodes). The AP uses quotes.

Jess... Indeed. If Amazon wanted to pay us, though... but that ain't gonna ever happen. ;)

can't we all just get along?...

okay personally I love the star wars and alien franchise with all my heart. But I will say Alien has more great movies that star wars, but Star wars is overall better.

For me it's an easy choice, even though I like them both. My vote is for Alien. The central allegory takes the cake for me, and Star Wars though very entertaining at times, hasn't impressed me that much.

And as far as overall franchises go, neither of them have a clean run. I by far feel more assaulted by the worst of Star Wars than the worst of Alien though.

Star Wars will win the popular vote of course, there's no competition there. But my vote goes to Alien.
