Face-Off Suggestion: 'Bonnie and Clyde' vs. 'Badlands'

'Bonnie and Clyde' & 'Badlands': Two iconic movies with two iconic pairs: Both about a young couple on the run.

Which of these movies, do you think, express the detachment of a couple from the world in a better way?

I kind of see why you put these two movies together, but there have been many other fugitive romances, such as "Natural Born Killers", "True Romance" (the theme was even inspired from 'Badlands'), "Wild at Hart", "High Sierra" or "Gun Crazy", so maybe you should justify this face-off by mentioning that the two movies are classics from the 'New Hollywood' era.

That said, I'm pretty sure "Bonnie and Clyde" will get the most votes, for the following reasons:
- it's more famous than "Badlands", probably more popular
- there's some 'Robin Hood' vibes fusing from the Bonnie and Clyde couple, remember their catchphrase 'We rob banks', it's not like they stole from the widow and the orphan (I mean from the film's perspective), on the other hand, Kit and Holly had a more nihilistic and cold-blooded approach to life, killing people just for kicks, although they never seemed to 'enjoy' it.
- another "redeeming" quality is that Bonnie and Clyde lived during the Great Depression, a poverty-stricken time that made the life in small Southern towns even more difficult, not to mention, boring, so we kind of understand the need for "detachment"

Thanks for the suggestion and the valuable input! I have mentioned that they are from the New Hollywood era.

very well written elmo...plus, i think it just seems like, if you remember double features, that bonnie and clyde would be the a-picture while badlands, while very good, would be the b-picture...

Yep, "Bonnie and Clyde" is the 'milestone', the classic that paved the way to a new depiction of  violence (and sexuality to some extent) while "Badlands" is the B-picture, but it's not saying much because any B-movie from the New Hollywood era can be seen today as a cinematic gem. Take a film like "Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia" which is also about a couple on the run, the film isn't in the same league than Peckinpah's more celebrated "Wild Bunch" but even Roger Ebert called it a 'bizarre masterpiece'. It was really Hollywood's finest hour, in my opinion, nothing can beat the 1967-1980 cinematic sequence.

Then what's the point asking? I dont mean to sound disrespectful but you know the outcome of any poll confronting a highly popular classic and an underrated gem with far less viewers. The parameters are biased from the start.

Lol! You sound more than disrespectful a lot of times actually.

' an underrated gem with far less viewers ' can be someone's preference for the question I have asked.

If you're that bothered by the presence of this question, I won't really post anything anymore.

Come on, take it easy. I was criticizing the question, nothing personal, it wasn't you. Lol this is like a marital argument turning sour.

But I apologize for what I said if you felt that I was being rude. Sincerely.
