2 Live Polls: I Want ... Songs!

One of the best tools creators of musicals use to get the audience to sympathize and/or relate to their subject's main characters is the "I want" song.*

Which of the following "I want" songs** gives you some or all of the best feels?

*"The 'I Want' song is a popular type of song featured in musical theatre [where] the main character [sings] about how they are unsatisfied with their current life, and what they are searching for." Wikipedia

**Songs sung by the protagonist ONLY: Phil Collin's Strangers Like Me from Tarzan does not count.

Thanks. ((blushing))
Who's the protagonist from that musical? What's his or her "I want song"? I'll add it.

Tsar,

"A Chorus Line Opening/I Hope I Get It" from A Chorus Line at The 5th Avenue Theatre
https://youtu.be/Y38ZTJ_pzM4?t=58

The entire cast sings "I Hope I Get It" at the beginning of the musical. In a sense 'A Chorus Line' is an "I Want" musical, showing the aspirations of dancers hoping to get a part. I agree with rocky-o, that virtually every song in 'A Chorus Line' meets the criteria for this poll.

Stephen,
these images may be better for Cinderella.  In the image you have, she is singing "Sing Sweet Nightingale."  These are the scenes where she sings "A Dream is a Wish."  :)

You could make one poll about Disney movies, it's almost a trope, the "I want" song.
Pretty sure there are many 'I want' songs in the movie, maybe you should make it a Part II, I'll certainly come with a dozen of suggestions:)

I'll do that. Setup the secondary non-Disney poll in a day or two and rewrite the original list as well.

Tsar,

For you consideration:

If I Were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof (1971)
(1964) (uncredited)
Music by Jerry Bock
Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick
Performed by Topol

Character: Tevye

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067093/mediaviewer/rm2049901824
Topol in Fiddler on the Roof 1971

Lyrics:
Dear God, you made many, many poor people.
I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor
But it's no great honor, either.
So what would have been so terrible if I had a small fortune?

If I were a rich man,
Daidle deedle daidle
Daidle daidle deedle daidle dumb
All day long I'd biddy-biddy-bum

If I were a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work hard,
Daidle deedle daidle
Daidle daidle deedle daidle dumb

If I were a biddy-biddy rich,
Daidle deedle daidle daidle man

I'd build a big tall house with rooms by the dozen
Right in the middle of the town,
A fine tin roof with real wooden floors below.
There would be one long staircase just going up
And one even longer coming down,
And one more leading nowhere, just for show. ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_I_Were_a_Rich_Man_(song)

The title is inspired by a 1902 monologue by Sholem Aleichem in Yiddish, Ven ikh bin Rothschild (If I were a Rothschild),[1] a reference to the wealth of the Rothschild family, although the content is quite different. The lyric is based in part on passages from Sholem Aleichem’s 1899 short story "The Bubble Bursts." Both stories appeared in English in the 1949 collection of stories Tevye's Daughters.[2]

Candy Bonstein Elaine Edwards Rosalind Harris Michele Marsh and Neva Small in Fiddler on the Roof 1971

Lyrics:
Well, somebody has to arrange the matches,
Young people can't decide these things themselves.
She might bring someone wonderful----
Someone interesting----
And well off----
And important---
Matchmaker, Matchmaker,
Make me a match,
Find me a find,
catch me a catch
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Look through your book,
And make me a perfect match
Matchmaker, Matchmaker,
I'll bring the veil,
You bring the groom,
Slender and pale.
Bring me a ring for I'm longing to be,
The envy of all I see.
For Papa,
Make him a scholar.
For mama,
Make him rich as a king.
Chava and Hodel:
For me, well,
I wouldn't holler
If he were as handsome as anything.
Matchmaker, Matchmaker,
Make me a match,
Find me a find,
Catch me a catch,
Night after night in the dark I'm alone
So find me match,

Added Tracy Turnblad's "Good Morning Baltimore" from Hairspray.

Does anyone know if the "Feel Me, See Me" song from Tommy by The Who? Is that a "I Want" song?

Eminem's Lose Yourself from 8 Miles (a musical??) one as well?

Tsar,

I believe "See Me, Feel Me" is at best borderline based upon the lyrics. The song is performed by the protagonist (Tommy) and a chorus.

Tommy (1975)

Listening to You/See Me, Feel Me
(uncredited)
Written by Pete Townshend
Performed by The Who, Nicky Hopkins, Chris Stainton, John Entwistle,
Roger Daltrey and Vocal Chorus

https://www.lyrics.com/lyric/3097844/The+Who/See+Me%2C+Feel+Me
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me

Listening to you I get the music
Gazing at you I get the heat
Following you I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet

Right behind you I see the millions
On you I see the glory
From you I get opinions
From you I get the story

Listening to you I get the music
Gazing at you I get the heat
Following you I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet

Oh, please, say to me
You'll let me be your man

You'll let me hold your hand
Now let me hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand ...
