iOS app crashes when airplaying to Bravia TV
I have a Sony Branvia XR83A90J OLED TV. Firmware fully update to date. I also have an Apple iPad and iPhone with the latest iOS versions on them.
Up until a few months ago I used to be able to airplay a trailer from the IMDB app directly to the TV without a problem. The video would smoothly stream in high quality without issues.
Then it started crashing. Unfortunately I'm not able to nail down when or what might have triggered it. But for the past few months if I try and airplay a trailer direct to the Bravia TV (either from the iPad or iPhone) , this happens:
- The IMDB app makes the airplay connection successfully.
- The TV screen goes black indicating it's ready to play.
- I tap the iPad screen to remove the airplay selection screen, and then tap the Play button on the IMDB app.
- The app immediately crashes.
When this first started occurring I found that I could restart the app and it would then play the trailer. But more recently this has also stopped working and now the app crashes every time.
I've also tried airplay to my MacBook Pro, and to an AppleTV. In both cases the IMDB app works fine. On the MBP it's excellent, but when airplaying to the AppleTV the video quality is atrocious. As if it's been massive compressed to the point where it's unwatchable.
So has anyone experienced this, anyone had anything similar?
