In the IMDB app on iPhone only the url is available when using a shortcut for sharing

Hi, there has been a change in the data I get when using sharing in the IMDB app for iPhone. I noticed this since this broke a shortcut (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/shortcuts/welcome/ios) I use for sharing links from the IMDB app.

I'm using iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 16.5.1.

In version 13.10 of the IMDB I get the following which I think is correct:

  • Input Item 1:
      The Bear (2022– )
      A young chef from the fine dining world returns to Chicago to run his family's sandwich shop.

• Input Item 2:
      https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14452776/

In version 13.13.1 I get:

  • Input Item 1:
      https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14452776/?ref_=ext_shr_other

  • Input Item 2:
      https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14452776/

I have been in contact with support-imdb@imdb.com which says this is a feature, not a bug (They confirm that it is a bug that the link comes two times, but not that the title and the description are removed).

Has anyone else here noticed this issue or have any thoughts about this?

Hi @kajh -

We have fixed the double link sharing in the most recent app version. As for the additional texts when sharing through older app versions, we have made the change so that it now only shares the link by itself with no additional texts attached.

What you describe regarding the removal of additional texts is the problem I want to address.

When sharing from the IMDB app on iOS it is a problem when sharing info about a movie to other apps f.x. using Shortcuts (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/shortcuts/welcome/ios) that I only get the url, so either the title or the description is available.

Title and description is usefull when sharing stuff from IMDB to other apps. My usecase for this is sharing info to my todo-lista app which is Omnifocus f.x. for movies I would like to check where is streaming. Here I would like not only the link, but also the title and the description. Only the link makes an entry in a todo-list alot less usefull.

Do my usecase seems reasonable to you?

Please let me know if I can provide any more info regarding this usecase to help you understand it better.

You offer title when sharing using email in the iOS IMDB app, please see attached screenshot. I can't see the reasoning why removing this from sharing using Shortcuts. Please enlighten me :)

I would ask you to reconsider the removal of title and description when sharing.

Thanks again for your feedback. The changes reflect our aim to streamline sharing experiences within the app. For this use case, I encourage you to post an Idea thread where other community members can vote and comment, this way IMDb staff can also track and gage interest.
