ERROR: Emailing IMDb Lists to yourself

We are using the built in mail app but have also tried third-party apps as well.  It still does not appear.

I have checked this with numerous other users as well and they are experiencing the same issue.  The "Send" arrow does not appear.  We have been using the app for years and this is the first time we have seen this.

Is it possible for IMDb, or yourself, to pass this on to Apple as well, in order to expedite the resolution?  We have contacted them as well on our end and they simply said they will look into it but who knows how long that will take?

It is a glitch that maybe needs to be updated in a firmware or app update.  This is quite frustrating as the users are now unable to send their lists to themselves or each other and that feature is rendered as useless.  Thank you.

@bogu2012 Whenever this problem occurs, it’s almost always due to not configuring an email account in the Mail app. Without an SMTP server configured, it cannot send mail. The send button will remain grayed out.

What could be happening is that you have changed your default mail app in iOS settings to something like GMail, but you have not configured Apple’s Mail app as well. IMDb uses the iOS APIs to send email only via the Apple Mail app.

Please confirm you have set-up a Mail account, and are you able to also send email from Apple’s Mail app? 

@bogu2012  Just to confirm again, you can open the Apple Mail app on your phone and actually send an email message fine and yet you still see the problem via the IMDb app?

Yes, that is correct.

The arrow only disappears in the IMDb iPhone app when trying to send/share a list.  So there is no actual way to "send" the email.  The only way to then get out of the email screen is to delete the draft.  Every time we restart the process, the arrow disappears right before attempting to send the email.

We are able to send emails through the Apple Mail app with no problems, the arrow is present.  It also works properly for every other iPhone App as well.

It only happens when using the IMDb iPhone App.

@bogu2012  We are out of ideas here, sorry.  The app just calls the iOS sharing API, passing in the link/text/image content. The sharing dialog that appears is from the system and it runs in a separate process. The failure is therefore after IMDb has any control over the sending of the email. 

It seems like an iOS bug.  We are wondering if your lists have an special characters in their names?  What happens if you create a new title list called "Test" and place only, say, The Shawshank Redemption in the list and then try and email the list? 

The other thing you could try is upgrading to iOS 15.2 or doing a full restore of the OS.

We have been unable to reproduce the problem here either on iOS 15.1.1 or 15.2. Also, no other customers are reporting this issue and we have hundreds of millions of installs worldwide.
